Oscar Pistorius trial discussion

That suggests he met the locked bathroom door, retreated to safe shooting range and put four in the decore. Even so, he isnt an xray machine or heat seeker, whatever shrapnel caught her he couldnt be sure of. Hes still an odious cretin though.
Yeah, it's always best to fire off 4 rounds when your not sure who's behind the door, just to be on the safe side

He'll be celebrating tonight that's for sure. Now I don't expect him to go to prison at all. Suspended sentence due to first offence and disability, or something like that.

That poor, poor girl, and her poor family. I hope he ends up topping himself.

The more I think about it the more outraged I am.

Two simple things:

1. He admitted to shouting to whoever was in the bathroom - why did she not respond? Sounds like a lie cooked up by Pistorius that he "screamed at the intruder". Why on earth would a loving girlfriend not respond to her boyfriend on Valentine's Day if he is randomly shouting accusing her of being a burglar?

2. Why would she lock the door and have her mobile phone with her at 01:00 in the morning?

Actually makes me sad thinking about it. She must have been so, so scared, and he has got away with murder. :( Life sucks.
This. It's so implausible it's almost laughable. Unfortunately the prosecution couldn't prove his guilt to the necessary burden of proof

It looks like a door to the lav, but the big bath shaped thingy on the left (looks like a tub) seems to suggest a door within the classic bathroom as we imagine/know it.

Acknowledge its no paine. No way he shoots an intruder thats broken into a 4 foot square lav closet. Is it a shower opposite? seems a glass paine, and the angles dont make sense, where the fu has he shot from. Wheres the bed? Odd odd odd.

That's it though, how could anybody prove his guilt when there was only the two of them there? All the prosecution could do is point out the inconsistencies, the unlikelihood of events, the fact she'd eaten when he said she hadn't, the evidence from neighbours who heard screams, etc. Unless Oscar had sent her a text message that he was going to kill her it appears he never had a chance of being proven guilty of murder. Saddening.

I guess the judge got it right, as there literally is no 'proof' he knew it was her. But it's an absolute outrage still. He took away her life and for that - added to his recklessness with his firearms - he should be in for 20 years.

It was a separate toilet 'room' within a larger bathroom

The mad thing as well is that during the entire trial this 'star defence lawyer' Roux didn't appear to be doing the sterling job it was assured he would, but actually it turns out he played an absolute blinder. Flight vs fight, using his disability, his upbringing, his sense of vulnerability, etc. Bravo.

Mate, don't let the cover story cloud your vision. Disregard the supposed intruder. There were 2 people in the house. One of them was locked in the toilet and the other one was shooting into the toilet from the outside. It's about a clear a case of murder as you could imagine. I cannot believe the judge has bought the intruder bullshit

It was not even an en suite. You had to walk down a 5 metre hallway from the bedroom to get to the bathroom...which had a separate enclosed toilet within. And during that walk, he would not have called out his partner's name?. I am not buying it. Not for one second am I buying it.
He was enraged, she was terrified....and he murdered her. I have seen her corpse....she was butchered

So scared out of his mind (allegedly) out of bed, gun from under pillow (with illegal ammo) towards bathroom, through first door, and then the full arsenal though secondary door.

And the prosecution couldn't convict on that? What were they doing, standing on their head in a bucket of water arguing their case.

Theres a couple of murder cases in the USA that have been brushed under the carpet that are at least as bad that cloud my judgement here.

Does this case set a precedent in South Africa for future cases where spouse shoots spouse and comes up with the excuse that they thought it was an intruder

We'll have to see what sentence is imposed for the culpable homicide guilty verdict to know if he's completely gotten away with it or not
