When the height of a none top 6 clubs achievement is how much they make in selling their top players you know football is dead.

Regardless of how well run they are and bad we are - both have the same number of seasons in europe and trophies lifted in recent seasons.

@Saint Domingo

When the height of our achievements in the past 6 years is spend big money and wages on players that eventually leave on a free/less than they were bought for...then teeter on relegation and have no money to spend, make huge losses, and have the league on your back....it's enviable.

But still when did football become about heathly accounts and crowing over who gets the best money for their top players for all but a few unreachable sides ?

The game is gone mate.

It didn't. It's just comparing a well ran club with a basket case one like ours

It's harking back to being good on the pitch, eyeing good players, competing with those players whilst not over spending. If they go, they go for a big price. But every team bar the oil rich needs to offset player sales.

For example there was a time we had a spine of Stones, Barkley, and Lukaku...we got £125millon for Stones and Lukaku and would've been more if Barkley hadn't snaked it. Since then we've barely made a profit from anyone whilst going millions in the red on flops.

Working the market is part of football
