The Jordan Rhodes deal has apparently collapsed - the papers in Boro are claiming it would have cost them thirty million over the lifetime of the contract (a fee of £16 million plus £14 million over five years in wages).

Would rather have him for £16 million than £13.5 million for that Moscow lid tbh

No one from a top league has ever come in for rhodes for a reason. Hes at his level

I think its more that he went to Blackburn for an idiot amount of money when he left Huddersfield. Twenty plus goals a season in a team that has veered between bad and awful for each of the past four seasons is quality, as is how much worse Gestede looks without him, as is a goal every other game in his career to date.

He would be a lot less of a gamble than whoever this bloke from Locomotiv is.

He's being a silly boy. Barring an absolute collapse,Boro will be in the premier league next. He should lower his wage demands and finally prove himself in a top league.

Needs to take a look at players like Vardy tearing it up with garbage premier league defences and imagine that could be him.

Mad that some of the top strikers this season have been newly-ish promoted,Wilson,Ighalo and Vardy.

Berahino to Newcastle, £21 million according to Radio 5
Ashley is certainly flexing his substantial financial muscle to keep his club in the league, so he can scythe off more money from the new TV deal.

While such expenditure was to some point expected (maybe not as much as he has), it's shame as I really wanted them to be relegated.

On a side note, I can't decide whether £21m for Berahino is either shrewd business, a fair amount or well and truly over the top.

Looks a good enough striker who'll score a 'reasonable' amount of goals, but his attitude seems atrocious and not someone you'd want around.

I think he knows that as well, hence why he appears reluctant to make any attempt to make any inroads in the Premier League.

He's a proven scorer in the Championship and that'll be a major asset in any bargaining for wages at that level. Any further and it's all new...

Lack of ambition? Maybe, but I'm sure he will be happy with the wedge he's raking in for the level he is playing at.
