Don't understand why the agent would have inserted the £8m buy out clause (especially when Delph is worth a lot more than that and clubs would have paid more) because at the end of the day it's in his best interest to get as much as possible because he gets a cut.

They desperately need a David Moyes type man to get them out of the myre and have them as a regular top half team. So many comparisons between them now and us back in 2002. I hope they can steady the ship, I really do

but they attracted a great manager with players the calibre of alderweireld, tadic and pelle as well as about 6 others who were quite good. i don't think that £40m is enough for villa their two best players (by a country mile) as well as strengthen in other areas. vlaar out of contract will be gone as well? as well as cleverley who did alright for them.

Southampton had just had a much better season that Villa, who are already fighting relegation level.
