Well he’s costing £40m but they’re getting £10m back for the young lad so it’s not really as much as it looks.

Aye mate, no idea about the lad going the other way tbh so not sure if that's a good deal and if it is, which team.

I like Jota, think he suits Wolves set up and will suit the rs set up. Just a tad surprised at the amount. Its a solid signing for them

Thats a proper steep price for Jota. I thought around the 25/26m would be good business all round.

Furlough Fc obviously found a few bob under the couch.

Wolves will be happy with that amount of money i should imagine.

They are paying about 50p up front and the rest on the drip.

All designed for FFP reasons. Mendes gets his commision so doesn't care about how & when it's paid

Jota told the Guardian : "I loved to watch Everton play, especially when they were playing at home.

"It was not a club that fought for the title but that always made life very complicated for the big teams. And I loved that drive and competitiveness.

"They were relentless.”
Jota loves the blues.

A couple of things. Firstly the two deals seem high to me and linked (smart for FFP).

Secondly, Liverpool probably have a hefty sell on fee to pay (like 25%) and it will be heavily incentivised. There will also big a big agents fee.

It wouldn't surprise me of the 10m
5m down
2.5m to the previous team
1m for the agent.

Esentially they take 1.5m guarenteed, and some bits and bobs on milestones that never get met. It won't stop net spend FC counting it as 10m though, and then getting angry when they seemingly don't spend money.

I like how the article on BBC says "both deals aren't linked". Come on, do they think we're absolute idiots, two players overpriced by at least £10m and people are supposed to believe they're not linked.

They are linked. I think they've both accepted 30m + Hoover for Jota is a fair fee, and they've stretched it from there. That is about fair for Jota as well. I can't knock them for that either, it's sensible business.

Something very seedy going on at Wolves.

They are a club in the pockets of Mendes.

I remember saying this a couple of years ago when people thought they would become the new City. It was never going to happen. Mendes would always take his best players and move them on to the big clubs. Jiminez will be next to United or whatever.

If you're Wolves though, and he picked you up languishing in the championship, you're not going to kick up a fuss are you? You'll get some good players sent your way, have them for a bit and get paid when they move on.

Meh, if I'm a fan and I've spent months dreaming of werner I'm gutted we've ended up with jota from wolves' bench. They'll try and kid themselves into thinking he's better.

Doesn't matter when they stay injury free and city lose all their best players all the time though.

It’ll be to do with contractual reasons, agent fees, etc. Liverpool won’t have placed Hoever in the Jota deal as that may complicates the various fees, insurance, tax, etc. There are accountants manoeuvring these deals designed to please a numbers of interested parties.

Yes there's a lot in that. I'd rather Werner than Jota too.

If we were bidding for Jota, at £45m a big alarm bell is going off in my head saying this is Sigurdsson/Bolasie all over again.

Yes. It makes sense from an FFP perspective for both teams too. Also Mendes will want paying twice, probably from both ends, which he gets from seperate deals (on top of the fees).

I saw there was 15% on the profit from any deal for Hoover (which I suspect is worth 1.5 of the add ons, so when they say 13, subtrack 1.5 of that as it will relate to that clause) but for Wolves having him valued at 10m will reduce the value of sell on they pay if they sell him.
