Unless they've managed to get the overall fee down or something. Maybe it's a deferral even. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense anyway.

Yeah that's why I was thinking it could be some kind of deferral for West Ham. Not a great deal for Brentford though. A strange one, but a good player I reckon.

There was an issue with his medical so they have apparently agreed a deal of £4m for the loan with obligation to buy of £21m + £5m in add ons. So the value of the deal is the same. Apparently the only way West Ham won’t have to buy after a year is if the issue highlighted in his medical becomes very serious.
