Imagine Thiago going to Liverpool, would be like buying a Bugatti Veyron and driving it at 30mph everywhere.
Seriously what is he going to do in that team - hoof it to Salah/Mane or play it out wide for Alexander-Arnold/Robertson to swing in their 30th cross of the match?
Good signing to be fair to them. From a technical perspective their midfield is useless so he'll add another dimension.

It's only really for the top clubs who don't produce many Englishmen from their academy. They have to comply with their home grown quota so get held to ransom when buying utterly turd players. I mean city may as well stick with stones instead of buying ake.

Over the last 10-15 years, Spurs have always seemed to have a fair few come through from the academy and if they ain't top gravy, like Walker Peters last week, we often still manage to sell them on for a decent fee.
In the squad at he moment we have had come through,

Tanganga (he looks like he can become a very good player, a top prospect.)
Winks (now a England international but?)
Skipp (not sure on him?)
Kane (not bad.)

Of course.

Still could've been duking it out with Pickford for who is worse

Pickford and Hart could have a best out of 3 on who can pick up a football the quickest?
What with Pickfords short arms and cos of he's old age, Harts obvious bad back, it would be close one lol

Thought this was a done deal for Sheffield Utd, maybe he thinks he'll get more game time with Fulham

You're missing the point. There is a shortage of genuine English talent, yet there is a set quota for the PL, CL and EL with regards to home grown players.

I'm not saying that it's right - it's not - but it creates a more competitive/restricted market where eligible players are priced at a premium: see Ake and Dunk recently.

It's the same reason why the likes of Green and Richard Wright et al. get/got contracts at certain clubs because it's a simple tick; see Joe Hart above.

The only way to really resolve the issue is increase the quality of the home-grown players (registered at the club AND UK from 17 to 21), so it negates the premium.

Until that happens, you'll get people like Maguire going for absolutely silly money when in reality he's worth less than half his transfer value.

No no i understand that. I just think that aside City would rather go and spend 50mil on Ake instead of 40miil on someone like Kounde or Diego Carlos

We paid 45MIL for Sigurdsson when you can literally get a player like him for 5mil abroad with a buyout clause

Setien is officially out and it's widely reported today that Koeman is the replacement.

I knew they were going to have difficulty attracting a top-class manager given the financial mismanagement, but...wow. Worst person I could think of for the rebuild they need.
