Other clubs summer transfers 2023

Not sure why people would laugh at a club like West Ham signing Maguire. For a club at that level he'd be a good signing. Had his problems at Man U in ETH's system, but in the right team he can still be a very effective defender in both boxes.
They want 40mill for him.

I've never been much of a fan, I don't think he has the positioning to make up for his clumsy physical attributes. CB's like keepers, once they have a prolonged period of being unreliable, very rarely get back to the highest level again.

To be fair Leicester were also bidding for him at the time which inflated his price. They bid 40m and we then had 45m accepted. Not that I'm saying it was a good transfer, but that's what happened.

I’m sure it was more a case mate of Leicester enquiring about him and being told by Swansea it was £40m, Leicester then laughed their balls off and took it no further. Could be wrong like.

They need to make it back for their FFP and to look good on the books due to him costing so much and so they can secure the Amrabat signing. However it's looking like West Ham wanted a cheap deal and won't be going back in with another offer according to some reports.
