Sell Sterling for £60m, you'll get someone stupid enough to go for it, then throw £160m on Haaland if you have to. He's clearly the stand-out striking talent of his generation, there's absolutely no doubts about him whatsoever.

With Kane, this tournament has shown that if he's in a team not tailor made for his talents then he's a risk. Haaland is a freak of nature, Kane - for all his quality - isn't. He's also a lot older, no resale value etc.

Im not even sure 160m would be enough.

I think it would. Allegedly a release fee next year of £70m approx but not confirmed and in this market that's near enough an equivalent to the world record fee.

Mad amount of money of course but sole point being if you're prepared to throw £100m+ at Kane, I'd just go for Haaland all day long instead.

I mean you said theres no doubt, but Im not yet convinced the big honey monster can do it outside the lets all play a high line DAS SPL.

But Kane for 100m, Haaland for 70m next summer or 160m Haaland this summer?

The thing that erased any doubt for me about Haaland is how he's had no trouble whatsoever to every environment he's in. Duck to water to international football and step up to German top flight. I don't think he'd score with quite the same regularity in England (as in a goal a game), but I think he all but guarantees you 25 goals a season, probably 30, and that's worth the outlay.

Too many clubs will be going for Haaland at £70m in 2022. I think City steal a march on Madrid, PSG, Barcelona etc. if they go for him now. I can't see any club going for Kane and Haaland - they are really rigid in what position they play, and clubs play the one 'traditional' striker and two inside forwards these days.

There's a chance Haaland is unattainable as he'll wait for the release clause to get higher wages, but if he is available this summer I'd be going for him over Kane. It's not that I don't rate Kane, it's just there's levels in football and while Kane is an exceptional footballer, you only get the odd proper world class footballer in any generation, and I think Haaland is it.

There's this thing called the CL where he's got a better record than Harry already. The real issue is who the hell wants to pay 60m for Raz?

In City's team I think a goal a game is well in reach for him. Peak Suarez got 31 in 33 in what is surely a worse team overall. I think Haaland is at that level.

Jury still out for honey monster for me, went utterly AWOL against City.

I don't think he was that bad. He had an assist and was playing in front of a midfield that included an 18 year old (who played decent actually), Dahoud (who is indefensibly poor for that side to have) and Emre Can (literally the worst player to walk the Earth) so I give him a bit of a pass anyway. He scored a goal a game while playing for Salzburg the year before too. You really have to thread the needle to act like the guy isn't world class at this point.

Potentially world class, he looks very good.

But there's remains a niggling doubt till he does it longer and outside a pub league.

Is this the same niggling doubt that cause Gareth Southgate to leave out Bellingham and Sancho while his team plays stuff that makes your eyes fall out of your head?

Don't compare me to that Bellend.

Sancho and Bellingham walk into my England team, but no, the weird bell plays 2 DMs and scrappy doo the trex.
I have a spicier take for this: I'd rather pay 75m for Rom than whatever it is going to take to get Levy to part with Harry Glass Ankles.
