I think there’s a tendency to romanticise about players from yesteryear when the reality is that the best players now are probably better than the ones back then. With some exceptions of course.

I dont like China but i think it would suit Bale.

Lots of golf courses + will be more fun there for him i think as he would be the top player in the league.

If youre number 1 in China youre treated like a King.

I think the level yesteryear was so much better. I mean when you look at some of the squads at France 98 for example. Maybe a few of the best players are better, but the players they're up against are a lot worse imo. Massively influenced by the sheer amount of football players do play every year now. There's a massive focus on fitness now and sometimes technical play and skill has been negated.

Just my opinion, I think the pressures being so much higher means the quality noise dives too. So many teams crumble under any pressure that big comebacks are becoming quite frequent, especially in the CL.

Pity about Bale’s injury problems, one of the best I’ve seen in this league when he was in his pomp at Spurs - obviously he’s been very successful at Madrid and won every tin he could have but he’s missed out on so much football

I really hate the Sessognon move for him. Spurs have a habit of not really integrating players into the team and he needs to be playing. And I really hate it if he's going to play LB because he's far too talented for that.
