50m for a player who has played a career total of 42 games.

UTD continuing to spiral out of control

The whole point of buying players so early in their career is so that you avoid paying a massively inflated fee. Paying the massively inflated fee straight up is a bit weird. They have no competition for his signing, why not wait? If he had another good season next season he wouldn't be any more expensive and he'd be less of a risk.

They've bought James as well, who's played about 20 senior games. I hadn't even heard of him until January... And I bloody support the team he was playing for.

Sick just looking at that.

Inter Milan are preparing to make an official offer to Manchester United for striker Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky in Italy.

The deal would see Inter pay United £9m for a two-season loan with the obligation to buy for a further £54m.

Sky in Italy report that talks between the two clubs will continue over the coming days.

Smart business move from Inter that, gives Lukaku 2 years to get his form back to justify a £50m+ permanent deal, we should have done that for Tosun, Bolasie and Klaassen, would have saved us a lot of trouble

I mean, it’s not too smart, he could completely flop for two years and then they have to shell out £54m.
Exactly. The obligation part is madness as he'll be two years older (28/29) and maybe have been a flop, where you then have to fork out £54m - madness.

If possible, if you really want him it would potentially be better to fork out some money now to sign him so at least there's more of a resale value down the line.

Had heard we could get a 5m sell-on fee if United sold Lukaku this summer.... Does the fact this is initially just a "loan deal" mean this is just Inter & United cutting us out of the deal?....

It just defers our cut for two years. The bit we're missing out on is the 1.5m foe every 10 goals he scores for United. Well, we would be if... y'know.

Side note, how is whoever negotiates United's transfers still in a job?

Atletico after Felix and James Rodriguez. Will be a very different team there in comparison to their usual style of midfielders. Could potentially have a lethal front line with Lemar as well behind Costa and Morata.
