Other teams summer transfer deals/ rumors

I don't get why City would pay £30m for a 28 year old holding midfielder with only 5 international caps, especially as they already have Yaya, Garcia, Rodwell and Barry on their books. There was talk of Toure wanting to go back to Barca but even so it doesn't stack up.

too much money, nuts i'll say, nuts

City will proberly sell, barry, tevez, dezko, lescott, kolorov, maybe nasri

So they are selling 1 team to pay for a new team, + 100 million from the sheikh..

I found it a bit baffling really.

If rumours are to be believed then Pellegrini may bring Isco with him. That's the best part of an entire new midfield with Navas and Fernandinho. Expensive (obviously) too.

Navas I can understand but I'd be concerned about his anxiety issues. Isco would make sense too, perhaps in place of Nasri? With Silva and Garcia it would be pretty cool to have an all-Spanish midfield.

They lack width and some variant of 4-4-2 with attacking fullbacks would seem the logical system for them. Even if they clear out a couple of defensive midfielders they'll still have three men for one position.

Reportedly Fernandinho is lightening quick and has a rocket shot on him but if he's that ace why has he spent 8 years in Ukraine (where he scored about 1 in 6) and why has he only played once for Brazil in the last two seasons?

With FFP I'd have expected clubs like City to prioritise signings more and to try and get some kind of value.

These are my thoughts on the matter. And like with all City signings, I hope he fails on his arse.

Very peculiar deal this Fernandinho one. 30m on a 28-year-old who might need a year to settle into the league? Madness. No sell-on value due to his age, not that money is an issue to them. So what are UEFA going to do about them and Monaco spending all this money? Just continue to allow them to stick two fingers up to them and do nothing? Thought so.

haha, i really hope that isn't true, i envy some of the business spurs seem to do though so wouldn't surprise me. still don't see what the attraction is of them for brilliant players like van der vaart, vertonghan and lloris

Looks like Wenger has been given the green light to spend a massive amount this summer

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis says the club are ready to "escalate" their spending next season.
Asked whether Arsenal could afford to spend a £20m transfer fee on a single player, and offer salaries of £200,000 per week, he said: "Of course we could do that. We could do more than that."

Breaking into the top 4 will be next to impossible imo

Only 5 caps? Wow. Even for a poor Brazillian team as it is now, he's not getting in?

i don't think saying we can pay more than 200k a week to a player is the best thing

Guillermo Varela: Manchester United sign Uruguayan defender

"Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela from Atletico Penarol for an undisclosed fee.
Varela, 20, had a trial at Old Trafford last season and is David Moyes's first signing as Manchester United manager."

Coleman not going to United then. Phew.

They're already dubbing him the Uruguayan Tony Hibbert.

is this a moyes signing? i'm getting confused now, his contract ends 1st July, are we paying for two managers at the moment? and is one of them being paid to actually do another job
