I definitely think there's something of the Kroldrup about this deal. He'll get a few more 10 min trot-outs then will be quietly sent back to Russia or elsewhere in the close season. We'll lose a few mil on the deal.

It's not like he was injured when we signed him. He's being kept away from the first team for a reason.

Could have something nasty like.

Q. Why would we sign him in Jan for massive money, when he wasn't fit? Only way you buy in Jan is players who will have an immediate impact, like Jelavic etc.
Q. Why is he not playing for the U-21's?
Q. Was this a panic buy when Yarmelenko turned us down again? Has he the same agent as Yarmelenko?

I suspect, rather like Koldrup, he just looks crap in training. I think most clubs have a signing like this that they have clogging up the wage bill. Like Saviet or Doumbia at Newcastle, or countless players Liverpool have signed.

- edit as a side note here, Doumbia scored 95 in 150 games in Russia. Doesn't get near the Newcastle squad.

This could be a great decision long term (I'm not passing any judgement on Niasse until he gets a pre season and run of games upfront), but the decision to sell Naismith in January has proved to be an incredibly stupid one in the short term given that this lad isn't fit. One of our few players with grit and drive and decent aerial ability in both boxes yet we sold him and brought in a player who we'll barely see this season. Poor judgement.

That alone should be a sackable offence.

This is a massive point. If he wasn't signed for immediate impact, why didn't we wait until Summer and get him for cheaper? You only buy players in January who will aid you in the second half of the season. On that basis alone, this has been a shocking transfer thus far.

Martinez' transfer record isn't as tight as everyone seems to think it is. Signed a load of whoppers for Wigan.
