Oumar Niasse

Looking at his YT video again ( in the hope of seeing something positive there ), he definitely looks more suited to playing up top centrally and not on the wing. Maybe time to give Lukaku a game off

If youve watched his youtube clips, I suspect the same word I got keeps coming into your head.

Clumsy.

Guaranteed he will not play an extended period in the U21s. He'll be given 10 min sub appearances every PL game to maintain the exposure but avoid showing him up.

Then he'll be off in summer.

Sadly I suspect thats correct.

"Niasse, who made 10 appearances for Everton, struggled to adapt to the PL and returned to XYZ after just 6 months."

It's actually a pretty common story, we just need to handle it correctly.

Who is going to buy him? You have to imagine his former club is laughing hysterically right now at how much they got us to pay.

This could be a great decision long term (I'm not passing any judgement on Niasse until he gets a pre season and run of games upfront), but the decision to sell Naismith in January has proved to be an incredibly stupid one in the short term given that this lad isn't fit. One of our few players with grit and drive and decent aerial ability in both boxes yet we sold him and brought in a player who we'll barely see this season. Poor judgement.

Spot on with that. Makes no sense to sell a player we at least had SOME confidence in when he was on the pitch to replace him with such an unknown quantity.

I do wonder how much we had looked at him before spending the 14 million. It isn't like Russia is next door is it?

Says a lot about him that he's played so little... and yet he's still considered by everyone to be awful... You really have to be very bad for this to happen... Sunday league after a session and roast dinner 5-a-side bad!

I think @bluestevon confirmed mate that this didn't happen but what he did win was a couple.of player of the month awards from his club and it's been misinterpreted by journos who ran with this player of the year stuff.
This has conspiracy theory written all over it. Kenwright laundering some capital before the sale! The man is not a footballer. Reminds me of that Ali Dia who conned Graeme Souness!

Aye he won two player of the month awards for his club first half of this season - not league awards - just Lokomotivs own fan voted ones, their is no 'official' player of the year award anyway in Russia, the closest thing is 2 of the long standing sports papers give annual awards at the end of each season - Naisse has never been in the list for those though as he was a bit meh first season and left half way through this one.

We'd need someone to buy him, and I can't see Niasse saying goodbye to his massive Premier League contract to be honest. I think we will be stuck with him for some time.

i do fear this, however i like to always share a positive view on things. He does play for senegal who are not exactly mugs on the international stage, so he can't be alli dia grade bad.

players take time to adapt to british football, mertesacker a seriously experienced player took a long while, for instance. He's come from a division where they stopped playing a couple of months ago ... if i was given a lucrative new contract worth 30/40k a week or whatever, i'd have more important things on my mind than keeping fit ffs ha

way too early to write him off just yet, even though i believe he will be a flop. we definitely seem to buy less flops than most of the prem though tbh, and with moshiri an expensive flop will effect us a lot less than under kenwright.

Weirdest signing ever this. It's so weird, that I'm almost convinced now that he's not being played for more than 10 mins at a time just to hide how poor he is trying to weave the illusion that he wasn't a bad purchase. Terrible signing so far, a £13.5m player should be able to hit the ground running. Don't buy it one bit that he's not fit.

Dont need to give the lad 6 months either to determine whether he has technique or not, he clearly doesn't. He's clumsy and at the age of 25 still 'raw'. He might still be able to offer us something in the future but I've got a feeling any new manager will try and get shut of him in the summer.
