Oumar Niasse

From what I was told and read when he signed. He's a forward who was also played left wing a lot, therefore him not even getting a chance on the left wing is a strange one. I am starting to think he could actually be worse than Kone.

I have a theory here. what if this is a bbc news thing all over again?
We went over there to sign Oumar Niasse, except when we sat down to negotiate with him, another random african in russia inadvertantly found himself sat opposite the everton representitives, perhaps he was looking for the toilet?

Now the russians knew what the deal with him was but thought if they keep quiet then they can sell us their barman for 13 million and we won't be any the wiser. Now 4 months later, barman billy is getting paid 50 grand a week to run round with the everton team.

(is that more improbable than the truth? )

Ronnie Goodlass was having a good rant about how bad managment wise it was of Roberto to spend all that money on him and not even give him a chance, we really don't know about this player, but we do know what he cost and how many minutes he has been handed, I can't believe for a second he can be worse then Kone, no chance.

The fact that Martinez hasn't been playing him speaks volumes though. He clearly doesn't rate him to do a job for us.

Or hes not ready to step in yet!

FFS! It can take players time. It really does speak to anything yet. If we are having this same discussion a few months into next season then yeah.

Dont get me wrong, its a bit worrying but its not the first time its happened either.

Take time to what exactly? If he's not ready for first team impact, why splash 13 million on him and Jan and not wait until Summer when he can be bedded in properly?

After 3 months of training with the first team, playing in multiple international games, fitness surely isn't an issue. How is he meant to settle without playing games?

With almost every signing in his situation I would caution against judging him too early

Thing is, I've been skeptical about him every since I saw his "highlights" from his time in Russia and nothing I've seen yet has changed my mind

I hope I'm wrong but my "flop alert" is at its highest level since I had 8 cans of Stella on an empty stomach a few weeks ago

How am I supposed to know? he may have problems at home, he may have had trouble moving from Russia. They are people at the end of the day regardless of the price tag, anything could be going on.

The 13M price tag is being used again too. Its really, really not that large an amount these days.

Lets just wait and see what happens. There is no need to get carried away just yet.

It is beginning looking like Per Koldrup MK. II to me.

Well considering he is our third most expensive signing ever, I believe that the fee is something to be concerned about.

Problems at home? Problems moving? These are all things that should have been looked at before signing him. No need to get carried away, but his lack of game time is worrying, especially considering that he's been on the bench more or less every game but never given more than 2-3 mins.

That may all be true mate.

Problem is, Martinez is losing his job right now and there is some possiblity that using him a little bit more may have turned his fortunes in that regard. Talking hyperthetically here, he scored last night, against watford, against united, against west brom twice, the season would be a slightly different image now than what it actually is.

what i mean to say is, when a manager under pressure has a 13 million pound player sat on his bench he just bought and he needs goals, you play him by now. Even moyes played van de meyde when he needed to and he was probably off his tits at the time.

Not even close if you adjust for TV money inflation.

Folks are going to have to accept that fees seen today cannot compare to fees from the past.

Perhaps, but we wont be long going down the Leeds United route if we continue to spunk 13 million on players of seemingly the quality of Niasse. Fact is, we've paid £13million for a player whos played under 80 professional games in mediocre leagues with a mediocre record and hasn't been trusted to play more than a couple of minutes every game.
