Oumar Niasse

Trust Everton to receive a billionaire takeover only for a striker who was banished from the squad and told to leave suddenly brought back into the fold as we couldn't even give him away or sign anybody better.

Funny how nobody on here as mentioned Mourinho has done exactly the same with Schweinsteiger.

Is Schweinsteiger going to play? No.

Neither is Niasse.

He has been included in the squad because he's on the books and fit.

Heck, Besic is out for the season but still included.

These things have a strange way of ending up. We might find that Lukaku, Valencia and Kone are all injured and he has to play and does well! In that one start Martinez gave him he wasn't great, but no where near as bad as people make out.

There is more to this story than him just not being very good at football!

Is Omar training with any of our squads at the moment?

Or is he just sitting, living it up in an ivy clad limbo, unable to believe the incredible life he is able to live on Everton's dime?

So do you think we spent £13m based on a youtube vid without proper scouting or due diligence into his character?

Yep that sounds about right from Martinez and Kenwright.

How the hell do these people continue working in football.

In the real world they would be kicked out and be unemployable
I think if you looked at a few of his vids you'd say he has potential, and his pace and shots are going to cause any team problems.

Would not surprise me if he was bought off the back of youtube vids knowing how inept Martinez was, I'd like to know how many times he was actually watched live in games in the Russian league.

Yes, they may as well give him a squad number as you never know what crisis might arrive re injuries.

Martinez has won something.... I dont see what this has got to do with Kenwright at all.

I have said this loads now, bad transfers happen at every club and at every level. Sometimes things just dont work out for a player and his new club.

Why do we get so butthurt about it like we are the only club it has ever happened to and that we should be above it?

Its happened, big deal.

So it doesn't matter that we wasted £13m ?

Only in football would that attitude be tolerated.

So what if Martinez has won something.

Kenwright was the guy in overal charge at the time and had to sign off on the deal. Yes he can trust Martinez when it comes to whether a guy can play or not but he must ensure that there has been proper scouting and that checks have been carried into someones character.

Would you hire for a senior position without getting references and making enquiries of people that they have worked with?

Did BK ensure either were done ? probably not.

Just another possible example of our lack of competance at the top.

Get real mate. This kind of thing happens everywhere. And there are very few footballers around who combine all the desired characteristics in one person (what you might call true captain material), so in this game you're always taking a chance.

Quit the myopic blue-bashing will ya? Your agenda is just so obvious.

No not really. Every club has instances of this. Why get so bothered about it? Stuff happens, you just get on with it.

You said in the real world these people would be unemployed. Why would he be? If I had some success a few years ago and then a couple of years of being mediocre in my job I would probably still get employment elsewhere...

Kenwright or any person in his position should have zero impact on who we sign in terms of ability.

Again you are acting like this type of bad transfer has only ever happened to us! They obviously did check him out, he did OK in Russia, looked like he had some ability and something to work with but then it just didnt work out. This has happened with World Class players too like Veron, Shevchenko etc. Sometimes things don't just work out, I'm certainly not going to burn effigies of people for it.

Its nothing to do with a lack of competence at the top as you put it. A manager wants a player, the people at the top trust the manager and his scouting system to make the right choice and it just didnt work out. Boo hoo. We really need to stop gazing at our navels regarding poor signings and just get on with it. We have made some really good signings too...again like EVERY club in football.

Also a lot easier to manage him within, or eventually out of the club if he has a squad number. Don't know anything about his attitude but he will now have to turn up, train (poor lad), stay fit, tow the line, basically all the the things expected of any employee. Not hard work like, but nobody is ever going to take a punt on him if he's just sitting at home all day watching telly ( or whatever it is non-football playing players do).

you reckon? I just think it is as simple as that, he is that bad and he's not suddenly going to improve...........don't agree that he's 4th choice striker either, Mirallas or Deulofeu will play up top in an emergency, plus I expect RK would play someone from the U23's or youth team ahead of him if it came down to it
