A lot of people say that he was treated badly, but I'm not sure that's true. Or maybe it's true, but it makes it sound like Koeman and Kenwright got together and said, "God I hate that blert! What can we do to make his life miserable?", and I don't think that's the case.
Rather, I get the feeling that most clubs isolate players that they want to get rid of. The reason being that if you make them feel like part of the team -- involved in training, traveling to aways, etc. -- then they're much less likely to agree to a move to a lower league or an undesirable location (like Hull). Quite possibly it's a lesson that teams have learned the hard way. So, yes, he was treated badly but, to paraphrase Abe Vigoda, it's not personal, it's just business.
I have no real proof for this, it's just an impression I get from reading about Oumar, and also about other similar situations.
edit: Is that a correct use of "blert"? I don't actually know what it means. But I did change "practice" to "training" and "road trips" to "aways" so as to sound less foreign.
