2017/18 Oumar Niasse

I would love to know what ROnald's problem with him was. It was clearly more than football related.

This was my impression.....As much as he's come on a bit, a year and a bit ago I think he really was turbo gash (I think he's a good athlete who has benefited from putting a shift in at training for a year and a bit with real coaches for the first time in his life). RonKo came in, saw this and said to the board, "I need a new striker as back up for Lukaku". Board said, "Well, we need to get rid of Niasse's wages and get most of his fee back first". Then I seem to recall that early in the window there were rumors that Niasse has scuppered a deal abroad because his misses wanted to stay in England. At that point I think RonKo just wanted to make life as unpleasant as possible for him so that he's accept any move and he could get someone else in. Pure speculation though.

Humble pie.webp

Me tea tonight.

If a legit quote, so much respect for Oumar. Might be an off the bench for the last 20 to cause chaos kind of guy, but wish we had 11 with that attitude.

Imagine the footballer you'd have if our old striker had that mentality.

A red in work actually told me this quote from him today, he remembered reading it. Iv been looking for it, cheers mate

I think he probably actually didn't fancy him but extradited him to prove a point. when you look at how he was treated it was cruel, regardless of the mo why he earns imagine going home every night and just feeling like an absolute see you next Tuesday. The lad may go on to never score for us again but iv got so much respect for how he's conducted himself (personal life aside). Fair play to him

To be fair to Koeman, he gave him a chance in the early pre season friendlies when he first arrived. I remember watching highlights and Niasse looked awful.

In fairness though how many other players probably looked bad that early in pre season, nobody else was binned to the reserves and not given a locker. He may not be what we want but he can clearly score in the prem, it might not be a great ratio but it's better then the ratio then we've had since the start of the season. I get Lukaku was here last year but is he really that bad and were we really that flush with top class strikers that he couldn't get in our squad?

How quick where they to get off air there. Sor

To be honest mate I'm actually made up with how he reacted. He was made up, that's what this team needs. A fella who wants to be out there.

I remembed this he said in an interview a while back, fair play to him. I hope whatever happens it works out for him because he has a great attitude
“I’m just thinking about what I have to do,” Niasse says. “If, at any time, Everton need me – for the 23s or the first team – I will be there, because I work for Everton. They paid a lot of money for me and that’s why I feel I have to show something. People say what they think but they don’t know me in England. They have never seen me fit and playing.

“I want to show myself in the Premier League and I hope it can be at Everton, because it’s the team that I’m feeling. Every weekend, I’m watching the games, I’m supporting the team, I’m behind them. I’m a Blue. But, if I get the opportunity to show what I can do at another Premier League team, I will go and I will do it. You never know what can happen. This is football.”

Agree mate, through all what has gone on Niasse has been professional about it all, just kept his head down and got on with it. What has been even more impressive, is how he's just done it all with a smile on his face.

The lad doing the commentary on the OS radio last night was saying the lads in the U23s love him to bits.

Just seems like a nice guy tbh. He reminds me of Ronaldinho in the sense that he is always smiling. It was so hard to hate him because his smile was contagious.

But he had signed in January, we all saw how poor he was. As a manager of a rival premier league club Koeman would have been aware of this. Jeez he may well have read GOT.... Remember the stories of the youth players laughing at him, and the comments from 1st team players.
Anyway, fair play to the lad he's 100% better now than he was 12 months ago

I love this guy.
Is he supremely talented? No. Does he think he is? No. Do we think he is? No. Does he pretend to be/act like he is? No.
Can he score goals? Well yes I guess. If we continue to give him opportunities (not sure he's worth a starting position) and he starts putting the ball away like he did last night against top opposition, then this lad can be useful.
Such a strange story this. A likeable lad, down to earth and realistic about his own ability, but he has heart and soul, and dare I say it, loyalty.
Like others have mentioned, imagine if he bagged winners at places like Arsenal, Spurs, either place against the RS.
LOL. Good luck Oumar.

Re. His goal last night, yes he may have got a bit of space from then Sunderland defence BUT he pulled the ball down with superb chest control and got a lightning quick shot off, which in itself was a great finish.

I'm hoping it could be the sort of feel good/galvanising moment that helps us get our act together over the next few games.

God bless ya Oumar son!!
