cant agree on the luck part mate, take away your fondness for a minute, all he has done is run towards the keeper and the keepers ended up missing the ball and running past it, that's not working hard that's just doing his job! I don't think we would have won the game without the goal but im saying 95% of keepers in the prem would have come and collected that so it was down to the keeper being a crab not niasse being great

again agree about being respectful and that but why wouldn't he be on the money he gets paid?

not slating the lad at all but think our fans get abit too wet on certain type players

Don't quite agree with that. Look at the money Lukaku was on. Did he respect us? Nope.

I think its' great that a player who'd been literally decommissioned by RK has got his head down, worked hard and taken an opportunity. When people talk about role models, this is a role model. Not just in footballing terms but life in general. I tell my kids all the time to have a good attitude and work hard. It doesn't matter if you're not the best at something, but as long as you put in all your effort.

Niasse is great, maybe not at football but great nonetheless.

The player did his job properly, got lucky and sparked the revival. Not everything in football is about choreography.
Seamus Coleman is the player he is because of the commitment and drive that he shows rather than because of his technical ability.

I don't see why we have to categorise players as best or worst they all have strengths and weaknesses .

You see,you defeat your own argument by noting that he ruins towards the keeper. In fact, he runs for 90 minutes in every game. That alone is a talent which seems to be missing from the rest, whichever team we put out.

again lads, not saying I dislike him or he's rubbish... just stating the praise for him is OTT

I mean steve you have just praised someone who gets paid 50k for running around a pitch, I just cant come to terms with praising someone who gets paid that money to run around, every player should do it ( some work hard less than others obviously )

for me, id 100% rather see someone who works less but is a far better player than someone who works hard but isn't very good

Let’s get real
He’s a professional footballer so it’s highly likely he’s quite good at football whether you or me or all the others who wrote him off like it or not.
He works his nuts off and deserves all the credit due his way.
Maybe we got it wrong, give the lad a break for God’s sake.
Kept his counsel and now reaping the rewards.
Good luck I say

What do you class as not very good though? This is the bit I never understand. I keep seeing people saying Niasse isn't very good but works hard, he is good because he is effective, it doesn't matter how he gets the results as long as the results happen. His career is full of him scoring goals somehow.

Tim Cahill wasn't a particularly great footballer either. It did not matter though because he was very effective.

What a player earns is irrelevant by the way. You can not equate footballers wages to how "normal" people work.

Sure this is posted in the gym at finch farm... can't find the picture, but this 100% applies to our African prince.... he isnt the most graceful, but he works harder then the other players - just wish it was as infectious as when Cahill done it.

He is effective, which is what counts, and we would be in a worse position without him. He is the same as every player we have in the fact that if we can replace with better we should.
He's stood up to be counted and give everything he has this season, I've never seen a first team player treated as bad as him in a very long time, if ever. So he deserves a lot of credit.

Hopefully that will come in time.

I do think people underestimate him from a talent point if view though. Obviously his passing is a bit ropey and some of his control can be a bit off but he reads play well, takes up good positions, plays the offside trap well, has decent close control and his shooting technique is actually really good as he can get power on his shots with very little backlift. He is a decent header of the ball too. Just because he is weak in some areas seems to make people overlook things that he actually is good at.

As you get older, you realise that life ain't fair in quite a few respects. Marlon Brando once got $2 million for two days work on a movie, and Daniel Craig is a multi millionaire because he's good at standing around while his stunt double risks his neck. But we all need heroes, manufactured or not.....the time, the place, the story and the individual must gel to create a hero for a particular situation. Currently Oumar is deservedly our hero. Sooner or later it will be someone else.
And it might even be someone with a great gift, like Alex Young,or...er...Dave Brubeck for example.

Guys, Omar ended this debate long ago. Hes our top goal scorer, with 5. Hes done that on only 11 shots. Hes done that in only 321 minutes. Thats 1/3rd of Rooneys minutes. Thats almost 1/3rd of DCLs minutes. The entire rest of our team outside of those 3 only have 3 goals in a bazillion minutes.

For once maybe we should credit someone for results, not potential, because we sure do need results about now. Ill gladly play the guy actively scoring goals, rather than the one who should be but isnt.
