2017/18 Oumar Niasse

Was saying earlier how Alan Shearer was defending Sterling and Aguero the other week, saying these players were entitled to down, even if it was with minimal contact, the same fella was saying Niasse should be banned because there was only minimal contact!

Shearer and others have actually excused such actions on the grounds of refereeing inconsistency.

I have often heard them say, when a legitimate penalty shout is denied, that the reason players go down and exaggerate even the slightest of touches is due to referees not giving righteous penalties and that you “can’t blame them for doing it”.

This witch hunt against Oumar is scandalous.

Looks like the FA got itchy trigger fingers and got desperate to try out their new rule, if the incident involving Dann and Niasse had happened anywhere else on the pitch it would have been given a foul and pundits wouldn't have spent a single minute discussing the incident in reflection. What is completely gutting about this case is that it seems to be a pundit/referee-turned-media analysts who have brought this upon Niasse. Whenever an incident like this occurs which is missed by the match official the FA will always announce their investigation prior to announcing if a player has been charged, yet this has seemingly come out of the blue.

I hope whatever club official that goes with Oumar to this sham hearing is armed with a video replay of Christian Fuch's challenge on Lennon in our defeat at Leicester, an absolutely blatant penalty that we never received. Any retrospective punishment for the match official that day like the punishment being given to Oumar? No, thought not. Video replays simply have to be introduced, the referee on Saturday could have determined immediately whether or not it was a penalty and booked Niasse on the spot if he thought he had simulated contact.

What a sham.

If that's the rule for diving now then fair enough. The lad made a massive meal out of it and we'd all be fuming if somone had done it to us. My issue is that i doubt this rule will ever be applied even handedly, no way would a Chelsea or a Man City of been given this punishment. One rule for the elite and another for the rest of us. Just further proof of the corruption that plagues the game.

Does anyone on here saying it was a blatant dive actually play football? Try sprinting past someone when they step across stood still an put there shoulder across yours its going to knock you over. whether you look at the ref or not if you get impeded or blocked/knocked over why shouldn't you want a foul for it

I play 3 times a week. Don't think that contact would knock me over to be honest, and I'm not a big guy. And I don't think I'd consider it a block or obstruction.
