Gwladys street - Boys pen gone railings after the Hillsborough disaster in -

Can even see "my spot" on this one Joey, right behind goal LG, dead centre just under the UG overhang. Used to get there just as gates opened, Sayers Sausage Roll and a Higsons and just soak it all in. Started taking my younger cousin in 82 and he used to say "why do you get here so early?" And it was, just to soak it in and imagine what had gone before.

Gonna miss the Old Lady.

Don't forget the crash bars were redone from round bars to square bars when that dreaded fencing went up - possibly resituated under H&S etc ....

The famous standing Gwlady Street end which went back under the grandstand with wooden floors at Goodison - boy it was noisy 30 minutes before kick off -& chanting never stopped back then -

Goodison Park in her infancy, the best stadia around - 1938 -

Thanks for posting that. Brilliant footage of Goodison, and also interesting to see the pomp and circumstance of Royal visits, and the genuine excitement and awe people had for the Royal family back then.

Genuinely not sure a visit by Charlie and Camilla would fill a bus stop now, let alone Goodison Park and a huge sports field!
