Don’t think Potter is the greatest manager, but aside from Carlo (and possibly Silva now), he is certainly a better manager than any of the others under Moshiris reign of terror.

He is probably the safest best. I don’t know managers from abroad but I would like us to not have a requirement of PL experience.

Moyes didn’t have PL experience when we got him. So while I voted Potter, one of the younger managers from lower league who I keep reading about, or someone like Carsley.

If we actually have the money and resources to get Potter on here, I would rather we make the effort to sign Mourinho who seems to like building empires. He'd get the best out of the players, would sort out our home form, would get us at least the FA Cup, and give better soundbites about 'football heritage' than Dyche can muster. Finally, we'd get to see the filmed sequel of that Mourinho and Dele interaction.

What, how?

Schumacher or Carrick have impressed at lower levels. Would like to take a punt on them, though obviously they'd be set up for failure at our basket case of a club.

Also out of prem managers, Potter and Kompany would both 100% die a thousand deaths here. Frank is adaptable, would make us tough to beat and can mix it up in terms of playing style. He'd be my premier league manager choice.

That said, there is no way we are paying compo to Brentford.

He'd actually stick around until he won something, because of his 'standards' (if not ours) though.

We had Ancelotti and gave him an open chequebook to sign who he wanted and atill never got near winning anything.

Mourinho would not entertain the idea of coming here with absolutely no money to spend. People need to park the Mourinho thing forever now, our fans have such a weird obsession with him.

I see your point with Ancelotti, but his motivation for coming to Everton seemed very different from his approach at other places. He seemed to want to phase his son into the role of Everton Manager. He did not seem as vested in our interest when he made that phone call to Madrid.
Mourinho seems to have changed his throwing money at it to solve the problem approach, I think the Roma job is about that. He seems to now only request 'types of players' from a DoF with Lukaku being the only outlier. So if we have the money to entertain Potter, we are better off with Mourinho honestly. I understand other's obsession with him but to me, it would a bitter pill for our current "Evertonness".

I'd love Potter but there's not a chance our fans would put up with possession footy. They're all too inpatient, just look at when we play it short of goalkicks. Immediate grumbles from about 10000 people.

I agree, this is the whole point of having a director of football. They decide all football aspects from academy to first team football.
They set out a vision of how we should play and hire the right manager to suit that approach. Only they should have a say on who the manager is.
Bill would go for someone like moyes and Moshri someone like conte.
Kevin might have names from other leagues but is probably overruled.
This could be one of the reasons it seems to take weeks to hire someone as they are all fighting for their choice.
Well that’s what happened last year if you believe the rumours.
Moshiri wanted Bielsa, Thelwell coreberan at West Brom and the board went for dyche after Bielsa said no.

Maybe with moshiri not answering his phone and bill about to throw a 7 fkr tge umpteenth time. Thelwell can get round the table with that dransfield and pick a new young progressive manager.

The best/most successful teams these days are the ones who can first and foremost defend the ball. Potters teams maybe take one pass too many a bit like Martinez did but it's just how the game has evolved in recent years. If the Park end da's can't hack this in the pursuit of climbing the table and chasing trophies then maybe the modern game isn't for them. As we have seen under Dyche hoofball/direct play just doesn't work like it used to as most modern managers are tactically wise on how to play against it.
