It was fun when we were good under him and the cup run will live long in the memory but the past ear has been awful. Glad we get Sam, for all the stick he gets he's a fairly progressive manager and exactly what we need. I first heard of him when he played for Bolton when we played them in the League Cup semi final in 1977.

Neil Whatmore is another name I recall from those games.

And I think Peter Reid played for them as well.
