Panorama to question ownership of Everton

I have to say and it's only my analysis but I feel relieved by this. Maybe it's with all the other chaos going on I am just viewing all news as good.

What we have in this article is the country's biggest broadcaster on a flagship program making the claim Usmanov is funding and involved in Everton. If thats the case it's an enormous positive for us, and we are financially backed by as much money as any club aside from Manchester City.

There has been no guarantee from the start this was the case. Some have speculated on the basis it seems logical. A major broadcaster saying it is a massive and qualitative shift.

The narrow accusations will be easy enough to bat off. Companies give share options all the time, and he has used his share options to sell at an opportune moment. It looks very shifty but it will be very hard to prove anything on that basis, otherwise companies across the UK will have to watch themselves.

In the broad picture I would echo what I said this morning, and what others have said, that this looks like someone from Kroenke's camp putting pressure on.

In a bizarre way I think this is good news. We have a backers 3-4 times the size of Ambramovic backing us, with flimsy evidence that will never stand up to link him, having already been cleared twice by the regulators.

Explain to me matey in terms I can understand lol what's this mean do you think? Are we going to be rich? And spend spend spend?

...I can’t even see a Panorama on BBC in the next few days. Perhaps Moshiri has paid them off or Bill has mates who can pull the plug on Eastenders.
It's over 2 episodes - tomorrow at 18:00 and Monday at 21:00, both on BBC1. I can't see anything on us forming a significant part of the overall programmes.

Nah.

Let's say for arguments sake that the money in 2007 was indeed legally a gift to Moshiri, which is in itself massively debatable, then it still Moshiri's asset to do what he likes with. If Usmanov had winged funds around to evade tax or something then rebought to offset his tax bill, then sure it could be investigated. But it was nearly a decade later that Moshiri sold up and he did so to pursue a clear other interest - the shares in Arsenal at that point where indisputably his property.

As the last sentence says, the Premier League know full well his purchase was legit - this reeks of Panorama starting an investigation, finding nothing but wanting to use the work they've done to make a program so it doesn't go to waste. They'll target Usmanov and front load on the 'evil billionaire foreigner' angle without providing proofs of anything; just insinuation.

For what it's worth, I still have no doubts at all that Usmanov will be here eventually. But it'll be done legally, albeit sneakily.
Yeah this really.

They've found nothing but still want to sensationalise.

Grounds for libel I wonder?

"WE FOUND NOTHING BUT WATCH THIS".........

Since the EPL does all the due dilligence BEFORE the transactions go through, not sure what on earth they would have that wasn't already presented to the league. And if Moshiri and Usmanov are that closely intertwined, agreed that it's great for us. Force him to sell his Arsenal interest and go all-in for Everton.

I wonder if Bill will be on reminiscing about the boys pen and Corrie?

Panorama though??

Someone at the club has miffed off one of their rich mates.

I mean, were the panorama production team sitting in an office sipping costa lattes and thought, “all a bit quiet on the scandal front, what about that Everton?? hahahah, how funny is that? I bet there’s something dodgy going on there, let’s investigate...!”.

Storm in a teacup.

Lets run with the idea that Usmanov gifted shares to Moshiri ten years ago, which may well be right. The idea that he did that to allow Moshiri to sell his shares to fund his near 50% purchase of Everton is just daft.

Are they mates ? Yes.
Will Usmanov be able to influence what happens at Everton ? Yes
Is it pushing the boundaries ? Aye, probably.
Will anyone that matters cares ? No.

I dare say the folk that don't want Moshiri here will get some mileage out of it, but they'll just be spouting hot air.

Unless the programme comes up with something far more substantial than what I've read, file me under NEA.

If they thought that then they should have investigated Phillip Green's involvement in Everton under Bill's ownership a few years ago. Bet there was more in that.

As a non-UK person, can someone explain what this Panorama thing is? I'm guessing it's like an investigative journalism type show. Does anything usually happen afterwards? Or do things get forgotten about after a week. Also is there any way to watch the show?
I don't know where you live, but in Australia you'd be talking Four Corners.

Could end in a bad way for us if further investigations lead Usmanov to cool any ties. (removing possible further sponsorship including stadium naming rights for example) If he is implicated in any meaningful way wouldn't that also massively drop the value of his shares at Arsenal if he wanted to sell to come to us, as any other potential investor will know he is a sitting duck. I believe it makes it more likely he would distance himself from our club.

Need to sit back on this and put the feet up. Panorama apparently have got hold of some docs relating to the share transfer etc. It must have come from red and white holdings. To me Everton and Moshiri are just a side show, a means of getting at Usmanov, who is the real subject of the forth coming programme. So how did panorama get these docs, seems to me someone has an axe to grind with Usmanov hence the stab in the back. Could it be an ex employee or an accountant's assistant?

Could this have stemmed from Arsenal's owner, wanting to get shut of Usmanov, hence the action to discredit him. Either way it is Everton and Moshiri who are the fall guys in all this. If it is anything like previous sensational Panorama programs it will turn out to much ado about nothing.
Don't forget the FA looked at it and passed but I see they are digging the naming of Finch Farm but Everton do not own it!!!

Of course we will all watch the programme and finally realise we wasted two hours of our life.
