I am frankly amazed he's in a team, and been allowed to represent his country, and allowed to travel and then be part of an Olympics. Flabbergasted.

Tbh, I have no idea what we're good at going into this year. What should I be looking out for?

The 7s rugby has started already, we've beaten South Africa and Japan, playing NZ today, we've qualified for the quarter final regardless of today's game which is on at half 3 today RTE2

You're right on the one place piece. Absolutely should just have a permanent host venue. Ideally a place where a lot of the venues would be used regularly anyway. In some ways LA makes a lot of sense in that regard. I'm not sure what the right answer is necessarily, but building venues for two weeks just to tear them down or never really use them again definitely isn't it.

Its about politics, prestige and showing off more than a sport

Swimming - Daniel Whiffen

Possible medals
Women's 400m - Rashidat Adeleke
Women's 1500 - Ciara Magehan
Boxing - few with chances especially the female boxers
Rowing - outside chances now that they've dropped our strongest event
Taekwondo - Jack Wolley
Golf - Lowry/McIlroy/Leona Maguire

I think if we're finaling in other sports that's a good chance.

Rugby 7s is very tough. If we beat NZ we'll be the highest ranked coming out of the pools and will avoid the winner of France/Fuji. We'd have a chance of reaching a semi at least

With some luck maybe the mixed 4x400 relay might final.

…..somebody on my horse racing forum suggested Cassandre Beaugrand for the women’s triathlon. Closely matched with the GB girl but Beaugrand is a Parisian and often such things make a difference.

Agreed, I don't think she'll win gold either but she has a chance of gold. The scheduling means she probably won't be involved with the 4x400's until the final so it's a big task to qualify without her.
