Also the Fonseca interest isnt new either, its been going for as long as the Silva interest, so its not like we only had our eyes set on Silva, we had interest in many managers prior to being left with the last tin of beans on the shelf which was Sam.
Didn’t we interview him once before as well Mr Goat? Around the Koeman time?

Silva lol
Another tosh manager whose greatest accolade is BPL relegation and had a 30% win ratio with Watford, 36% with Hull.

How many more warning signs do you need to realise he's not fit for the Premier League?
Not to mention only Stoke had conceded more goals than his Watford side WHEN WE WERE INQUIRING about him. Had no idea how to set up a defence.

Sound familiar?

He should be/I hope so.

My biggest concern with Everton/Moshiri is short-termism - I think it's potentially crippling.

He was their man, "a bad run" with plenty of mitigating circumstances shouldn't be significant enough to change approach.

Sack Allardyce on his way out of the stadium on the last day of the season and bring the new man in - the man they actually wanted*

* Unless someone who wasn't previously available, suddenly is. Or whether Usmanov wants to bring Wenger with him. /legs it ducking and diving.

Fair points, but what i would add is that IF we are changing our DoF this summer - lets hope eh...

Then the incoming DoF should be the one whose yaying or naying the next manager, So if Moshiri wanted Silva still preferentially, and Brands for example would rather we went Fonseca, then should be Fonseca every day of the week

Theres only about 5 good managers in the world

The rest are much of a muchness just pick one whos style ya like and hope for the best

No manager is a gurantee of sucess bar the top few ( plus give them loads of money)

Every other manager is a risk no matter what way you look at it

The CL is a big pull for managers as well as players,we might be able to offer that in what....ten years.

If it was all down to CL Fonesca wouldn't be dropping Shakhter to potentially come here - same with Tosun.

Some people seriously underestimate the pull of managing/playing for a top end Premier League club who can pay £100k+ a week salaries.

Jardim and Emery are highly rated but they are not in the bracket of manager that would automatically rule a club like us out:

Mourinho
Guardiola
Ancelotti
Simeone
Klopp
Poch
Conte
Allegri
Enrique
Tuchel

I think those managers aside anyone else we could tempt providing a top club isnt also interested.

Realistically next season only Arsenal, Bayern, Real Madrid, PSG, Chelsea and the Milan clubs may be looking at other managers - assuming Real, Chelsea, Bayern and PSG go for the type of manager listed above, theirs actually very few clubs in Europe who would rival us for a manager like Emery, Jardim and Fonesca.

It really all depends on the sort of budget available to a new manager and the stomach or lack of, that Moshiri has to effectively start again in the summer.

The temptation is there just to keep things going for another year after which we hope building starts on BMD.

Those factors, and whether or not there is to be a new DOF will all contribute to a decision to sack Allardyce. Walsh staying in post quite clearly increases the likelihood of Sam staying put. Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas.

One thing is for sure, this idea of “throwing” money at someone to persuade them to take the job is for the birds. Tuchel would have had six months in the job already if that was the case. Moshiri was willing to pay £15m in compensation to Watford for Silva.

We should have it within us to get Fonseca here and I’d be pleased with that, as long as Walsh is gone soon as well. Putting it all on the manager won’t solve our problems.

Were the famous 5 all born that way or did they become great managers over time.

Is it not possible that the next great managers are already at different clubs learning their trade and may be ready to step into the hotseat at a big club ?

There's little doubt that Moshiri is an astute businessman more generally, but he seems to really struggle with the details of football. If he can start to appoint people who can take football responsibilities off him that would be a good start. The DOF is probably the most important step, picking the manager and setting the football side.

I think that's why he's been looking at Brands. Strikes me as an astute businessman who knows his footy.
