That Shakhtar Donetsk team has some good players. I would still prefer a coach with premier league experience plus his failure at Porto worries me.

Another thing that worries me is that are we literally just choosing players and managers based on a few decent performances in the champions league because if so that's no way to run a professional football club.

Our last three coaches have all had extensive prem experience. Didn’t help them one bit.

Add Mark Hughes to that list.
Club shows no ambition managers and players all coming from clubs that are no better than we are, surely to improve you get a Champions League, League winning manager and similar players buying the best of the worst doesn’t work.

I think you can safely strike Mark " I`m too good for Everton " Hughes off that list mate.

He hates us and we hate him.

He`s got to be one of the most unpleasant human beings that`s ever played for us.

Given the choice, I`d be a very hard choice between him and Allardyce, as to which one I`d drop out of the plane first.

you could look at his CL record, which is great
or you could look at the fact that he took a team with no home ground, playing all its games away in a pretty competitive league, to a treble.

Again that team had a couple of really good players.

I would prefer someone with premiership experience or failing that someone with real european pedigree like Emery or has managed teams and done well in one of the top leagues.

Would anyone consider Brendan Rodgers. Of everyone available he ticks all the boxes and then some. If we can warm to Sammy Lee then anything is possible.

It was tongue in cheek just frustrated at our policy of employing and buying ‘best of the rest’ rather than gaursnteed top performers.

better to have players or managers who have never been to the champions league then?

We can't sign CL regulars, better to go for current good ones that will join this circus to get anywhere. Otherwise we are signing players who havent played at the top level or hiring managers who excel at getting nowhere.
Perhaps if all we judge our decision on is results however style of play, ability to coach and improve teams in my opinion are more important.

Hiring coaches based on performances is a bit like hiring Walsh based on Leicester.

I'm not sure its the right way to go.

Brenda ticks no boxes. I wouldn't hire him to wear a sandwich board advertising a sale in the club shop.
