Have you done a system restore point
lately ?
If so check a date when it was running ok and put back to that date.
sounds daft but clean the air inlets , were it sucks the air in above the fan, common problem on some makes, does as you say, just get a pin and unblock , then hoover the slots.
Last resort back up anything you want to keep, and factory restore.

The lovely windows 10 turns off system restore, such a wonderful OS.

I gave it a good clean the other day, took almost everything apart and cleaned that.

Check you properly connected your PSU cables again then.

As believe it or not - loose connections manifest as freezing and crashes as components momentarily lose power.

No overclocking and the problems have only started after they forced this piece of crap windows 10 on me.

Strange I have had W10 for over a year now and no probs. Upgraded from a download previously on W8.1 What was your previous W?

Have you got one of those checkers to root out junk files, check registry, privacy etc?

Have to say as well I do not use their display of apps as my screen shot, mine is a photo of mine and I just have programme shortcuts on the screen.

That display you showed was that some sort of viewer?

have you checked the drivers? are they all upto date?

Another thing. Do a check of the hard disk health if its a physical (spinning drive) for the OS.

If its a SSD do a check in the software that came from Intel/Samsung etc.

e.g. Samsung Magician.

@MoutsGoat - do a system recovery DVD drive or flashdisk first.

Or a recovery point.

I had a problem on a machine a few weeks ago that instead of going back to windows 7 - got corrupted. Managed to reinstall windows 7 then do a very old recovery point.

First thing - do a recovery disk then if needed do as Edge says.

If you can't pin it down
