Is he not?

including the initial takeover, he’s spent £592m on the club. However, that doesn’t include the stadium costs… that money is currently coming from him (he’s rubbish, but fair enough, he’s backed it) …. He’s spent well over £100m on it so far.

So, I don’t think my £800m is that far out.

Let’s deal in hard numbers rather than alternative reality

Your numbers are correct.

Some of the funding, for things like the stadium is likely to be from others, as with the initial purchase.

He will likely not cover his costs, and probably doesnt deserve to. But for him, its probably a case of "cut ones losses" so to speak.

...and he's no sort of accountant if he can't write those loses off for tax credits or summat

That's probably true.

Best case for him is he swallows a loss, but keeps some equity while new owners unlock potential of club and add value.

Best case scenario for the club is we become self sufficient. We can’t rely on Moshiri continuing to underwrite losses, it’s not healthy for us, if he goes pop, or can’t fund our losses we go into administration, because we currently can’t fund our outgoings without him. The PL do have some safeguards in place for this though.

Another danger is he cuts his losses and decides to sell on to anyone willing to take us on, without the clubs best interests at heart.

Devil's advocate - he's never had the clubs best interest at heart, it's always been a vanity project, new Christmas kids toy for him mate.

At some point in the past 5/6 years a businessman would have to have seen that meddling himself, letting snakes like kia have their merry way, and letting the board be a shambles was inherently destroying the club.

But he's ignored it all as ultimately he doesn't care a flying one about Everton he never has done, he or rather him and Usmanov wanted Arsenal and we where never more than a toyset to them with zero connection.

I hate Blue Bill with a passion, but Moshiri is close behind him on that.

Both have been utter cancers for this club. They stay it's a matter of when not if we do a Sunderland.

You might have a point mate, may be a bit of a vanity project to it all, but personally I have always believed he’s a proxy for Usminov, the other Russian fella and the three are acting as a consortium, the motivation PL exposure, being involved in the PL is an appreciating asset, clubs are worth more then they were 5-10 years ago, TV deals go up and we are on the cusp of something big, in terms of TV, social media, streaming interface in my opinion in the next 5-10 years, these lads know this.

My approach to owners is this, if they are honest and do what they say I don’t have an issue, Bill never promised to plough money into us infact he was open about - so I’m not going to hang the man because he never promised to, some things he did well, others not, you get that everywhere.

Same with Moshiri, I think he’s a loon, but the man promised investment and he’s provided that - absolutely no beef with that. He’s a poor runner of a football club, but he’s kept promises. We are however in the danger zone, for the reasons I’ve said above, we are currently relying on his good will, because without it we’re really in danger. We can all speculate on that. He’s taken some medicine financially personally for his poor running of the club. Weirdly though since he’s been with us his personal wealth has increased 100% to north of 2 billion conservatively.

My position is this and always has been, we had our head turned by investment for years without it, we didn’t care that we were digging a hole, but being reliant on one man for the clubs life isn’t healthy and here we are, we can go broke in the morning on his whim.

Personally I hope he continues to write cheques until we can get to a position that we are self sufficient again, it might be another season or two, but costs are coming down.

The criticism of him is at its highest in the mainstream media and in the football community it has been. I think that stings him++ he’s always been reactive punblic opinion, I wondering we might see a different owner now.

But the only game in town now is getting to self sufficiency before administration or are sold down the river to some snake. The reality for Everton is we will only ever be able to spend what we make +35 mill in contemporary football, in terms of investment.

Going slightly off track here, but I'm really curious to see what happens to Chelsea over the next few years.

The owners group have just thrown down a tonne of money, their only goal is to make a return.

Chelsea don't leak anything like as much as we do but they were still losing money every year, even with the huge commercial deals they have. A couple of years more without a league win or even one without CL qualification might make the owners regret the decision to buy.

So he is in the hole for £800m, it’s ok to admit you’re wrong.

Let’s look at the last deal, £500m he wanted, yet he couldn’t get that.
my fear is that we get stuck with a man who can’t afford to sell due to taking a huge loss, yet also can’t run a bath, let alone a football club.

By then at some point we will face administration.

Weren't they losing a million a day or something daft under Roman?

Lets face it over the last five years or so we've been used as a massive laundry (allegedly) for ill gotten cash nothing more nothing less. Now that launderette has been closed down due to sanctions there's no massive bags of cash left to do what we want with, hence owner needs to shift himself out of it and because of where the cash came from he doesn't really need to break even. All allegedly of course.

And completely wrong.

USM/Megafon/Whoever else are legitimate businesses trading all over the world.

They don't need to invest in a middling football club to clean money that's already clean. (especially a club losing money hand over fist, that's not the best vehicle for money laundering)
