It's fact.

Everything in the USM portfolio is a legitimate business.

How Usmanov grew his wealth in the first place may not be to everyones taste but theres absolutely nothing that needs to be 'washed' out of USM revenues.
And you think all the money moshiri has put in has come from USM? I would be amazed if that's where it's all come from. Money laundering goes on at all levels from big business down to small and these fellas know more tricks than anyone in how to hide it and how to move it.

It's also entirely possible that it's all his own money. (doubtful, but possible)

Money he's been paid as a legitimate salary and bonuses and stock options that's made him an extremely wealthy man in his own right. It doesn't make much sense but then again, owning a football club doesn't either.

The idea behind money laundering is dirty money in, clean money out.

So far it's all in, in, in. Absolutely nothing out. That's not laundering, that's pure bad business.

Finally, if you were serious about money laundering you'd hardly do it via the most watched league of the worlds most popular sport, It draws too much attention. Infact, can you give any examples of a club in a major league with even a hint of suspicioun it's being used to launder money?

Take your time if you like.

No need to take time but how about Chelsea

If you honestly think these fellas who have "made" all their money legitimately (yeah right) invest in football clubs just for the hell of it then thats naive in the extreme (maybe many years ago as a millionaires play thing but now not a chance). The fact that sanctions have been placed on these individuals has forced their hand earlier than they would have liked as the maximum return would have been after the stadium was completed. I guess you have your beliefs and i have mine so we'll have to agree to disagree.

Again, Abramovitch owns multiple legitimate businesses.

He didn't need to launder money through a football club.

Your argument makes no sense.

Ask mum to cancel your subscription to the beano and get something a little more educational.
Oh my god why if someone disagrees with you that insults about age come out? Why is that? Are you not able to believe that someone might just not hold your point of view? If anything shows immaturity its applying that kind of nonsense to a discussion.
My final point as I won't be discussing this any further is that you seriously think abramovich got his money from legitimate business dealings if so that is naive in the extreme.

I didn't say they did. What is clear is that these kinds of people already control plenty of other businesses away from the public gaze that are perfectly legitimate.

Honestly? Most single owners do it for exactly that. Some buy islands, some buy casinos (perfect for money laundering BTW!) Some buy sports teams.

Interesting that a few major countries have sanctioned the individuals over the Russian invasion but NOT the companies they control. It's big business and it would effect everyone down the line if they did.

You maybe onto something with the stadium, I don't doubt they had their eye on a favourable return but again, NOT laundering.
I guess you have your beliefs and i have mine so we'll have to agree to disagree.
Gladly. Have a lovely day.

It's OK holding a different point of view and I'll debate it all day if it's worth it.

My issue is you say it's money laundering.

It 100% isn't.

As for Abramovitch, his businesses under his control are all legitimate, and have been since before he took over. How he gained control is another matter but that doesn't impact the legitimacy of that business.

Cheers.

And completely wrong.

USM/Megafon/Whoever else are legitimate businesses trading all over the world.

They don't need to invest in a middling football club to clean money that's already clean. (especially a club losing money hand over fist, that's not the best vehicle for money laundering)
Using a football club to launder money? Noooo.
