It's been sickening listening to all these ex referees sticking up for their mate who had a total mare. And worse the pundits who decide their opinion on a matter based on what team suffered it. It's never a red card and the fawning from the media to defend the clown with a whistle has been a joke. If it was the RS or United it would be an altogether different narrative. Farce...

Tim, it was never getting overturned mate.

Even in the office I work in, it was a split on who thought it was a red and who didn't.

We can't blame everything on the media.

Ref had a shocker but the FA would look at that and stand by their man. It's subjective.

The issue we should be pressing on is the free-kick been taken out of position.

Good grief
Jags has been a great servant to us. Always gave 100%
Yes his time has come but he doesnt deserve the recent criticism. We should have had a replacement plan in earlier but thats not his fault.
He should be remembered for that unbelievable last minute equaliser at the RS.

Reminded me of the Osman mistake against Sunderland in Martinez’s first season that checked our momentum round Christmas. It’s so annoying because we would have been looking at a flying start otherwise. Silva needs to root out the ‘Everton that’ players from the squad and unfortunately Jagielka is the biggest proponent of this mentality
100% agree with this. Silva seems to have a bit of aggression / determination about him, and I think we need far more similar, win at all costs attitude in the team too.

A good servant but should never play for us again. Cost us massive on saturday you simply can not do that first game of the season when this season is so important in getting the confidence back in the fans and players alike after last seasons disaster.

That daft red card could have easily led to a defeat and the collective sigh of "here we go again" from fans and players alike.

Does anyone think jagielka could have put up more of a defence on his behalf. For example screaming at the ref exclaiming the direction of the ball to show he had won the ball first. He just seemed to meekly accept the decision.

Once the red was shown, it wasnt getting changed, honestly what would have been gained from screaming and shouting other than embarrassing himself?

Good shout that. Too many honest pro's get ribboned as Father Time catches up. Baines is another quality lad it is happening to.That strike in the derby was one of the sweetest you will see (sickener for me as a red) from the most unexpected source. Seems like a really decent lad too.

3 match ban means serious foul play.
Just watched the match on BT and they reported Jags had been sent off for stopping opportunity to score. So the refs intial decision of stopping a goal has been has been changed, and more serious foul play has now come in! Shame, to be honest I'm a bit narked myself now at that development.

Big thing being overlooked here is how that Jota utterly conned the ref with a Neymar like performance after the tackle only to recover and play the full 90 minutes
