He's been a fantastic defender for Everton and to some degree taken for granted. Not only that but he's served as captain without fanfare or fuss for a number of years.

He reaches ten years at Everton in the summer. He was cast asunder by the "he's finished" melts but this run of form shows there's merit in a final year of his contract to go. We're gonna have European football and a busy schedule and he's worth a place in that.

He will be remembered very well indeed as a very good Everton player.

It's natural what has happened, a player in his mid 30s with a body that can't quite do what the mind wants anymore, but still has great moments because he's a very good player. He has been fantastic for this club and he will be remembered very well.

the guy was all but written off on here just a few months ago because he was in a bad patch of FORM, glad to see hes proved those ppl wrong, should defo get another year IMO if he isn't already contracted

Probably helped not having to carry Williams

Williams was immense at Old Trafford fgs.

What helped more than anything was having the Roller that is Schneiderlin in front of him.

Someone who has the legs to get back and take the ball forward from deep, while shielding the defence.

Gueye of course is brilliant, but lacks Schneiderlin's passing range, while Barry is class but just doesn't have the energy.

I think unless a very decent offer comes in, Jags will be staying for the remainder of his deal - the more rotation options the better if we're heading into Europe. That could depend on who is brought in, though.
