Phil Jagielka

Jags is class. Dunno where this "he's rubbish" nonsense has come from. Jags-Williams is the pairing ;)
Na lad been a bit of youth in there or at least something a little more exciting, while not doing Cruyff turns and all that in their own 6 yard box. Mori should be given a chance imo; he had a big impact last season when you consider he had moved continents and had to slot straight into the squad. I am a big fan of his.

Mori and Williams all day for me.

It actually sounds like he's saying "Phil Jagielka is the captain of the team...I cant do anything about that right now".

Hopefully he's just boosting his price.

Pretty sure the manager picks the captain?

I'm not the guys biggest fan but he's certainly not as bad as some people make out.

Be nice to see him have a great final season under Ron and then either;

send him on his way in the summer with best wishes,

reduce his role to bit player / coach if he shows interest and talent for such a role.

If he stays (which I doubt if Koeman gets another of his preferred CBs in) it's going to be embarrassing seeing an Everton captain take a back seat on the pitch as Williams dictates how we organise at the back.

Us football fans are a funny lot ,one minute were slagging players for disloyalty, the next were slagging players who have been loyal servants. The hypocrisy can be breathtaking. T'was ever thus I suppose. Perhaps we get the players and slightly seedy game we deserve?

He won't get much game time once Kone comes in. It will most probably be his last season at Everton.
As it should be. He's been a good player for us, bought from a much smaller club and went on to become (albeit a pretty poo one) captain. Always represented us well, has lots of respect from the fans and will leave on great terms. We could still get a decent fee (reckon about 5m) for him today, and with Mori, Kone, Williams and the youngsters it could be the perfect time to cash in. But I figure we'll sell next summer, and that's also fine. Should be 3rd choice centre back, and I hope Koeman plays a back 4. ;)

Kone must prove himself if he comes in, not Jags. Kone is not an Everton player at the moment and already better than Jags? If I would have a wish for free, than it would be that Jags had a boss season, not for himself just for the people who slagging him.
Come on Jags, never say die!

Mori, Williams and Jags with Koeman in charge

think we may end up being 'club captain' with williams on field captain, especially if jags cant get in the team..

In defo think he's Sunderland bound, tbh. Koeman's words yesterday linked his sticking around to numbers of CBs we have available. Regardless of his words about PJ being club captain and going nowhere, if we get Kone he'll be surplus to requirements.

That was my feeling rereading the quotes this morning - I think once Kone is in i think he might look at the situation again. Moyes has a massive hard on for Jags.

Would be fine for me. I rate Mori higher than Jagielka, and Williams is obviously miles better. Not seen enough from Kone but if he's as good as Sunderland fans say he is then he's also ahead of Jagielka in the pecking order. Ron Koe ain't spending close to 20 nicker to put him on the bench. Back five of Coleman and Baines wingbacks and Williams Kone Mori for me please.

You reckon mate? Could work I guess. It'd free Coleman and Baines to get forward more, and that's def where their strength lies.

If we sign Kone, then this?

Stekelenberg / Jagielka Kone Williams / Coleman Baines (wing backs) / Gueye Barkley / Deulofeu Bolasie (wingers) / Lukaku

If he plans on using Deulofeu and Bolasie then i don't think 3 Centre backs would be a bad idea. Both attractively brilliant going forward, not inspirational getting back but they wouldn't need to in the team you've suggested.

Personally would prefer Mori to Jags on ability. Mori/Williams/Kone sounds like a brick wall. Just plays on the heart strings letting go of Jags.
