I preferred looking at Apostolos Vellios’ legs but each to his own.I miss his chipped / dinked balls down the line……
Mate Harold Bishop would stroll into our team.Cahill, Carsley, Neville, Arteta, Pienaar and Osman would all stroll into this team. All class players who gave years of great service to us.
Michael Jackson's corpse would moonwalk into this side and he's been dead for yonks...
West ham had a decent player called Bishop. If I remember correctly. My dad, who's a decent judge of a player (apart from me, he thought I was rubbish) really rated him.Mate Harold Bishop would stroll into our team.
You're a wrong one for that.Could play next to Gylfi, they'd get along.
He was a manc rat happy for us to have our head patted by the ‘bigger’ clubs. Embarrassing he was our captain, absolute yard dog.I always liked Phil and felt he came in for some unfair stick. We could certainly do with somebody like him now. A 28-year-old Neville walks in to this current team at left back, right back, or centre mid. Aged 30-33 he still walks into this side in midfield.
Tbh, I could have picked other players from that era. Did we not appreciate what we had, and in future are we gonna appreciate what professionalism and a bit of mental steel bring to the table?
Walking definitely the right word. But he was a leader as were many of the players Moyes signed and a pro. Things we are lacking right nowI'd question him walking into midfield at 30-33, but Phil Neville was much maligned I feel. Few more like him, Cahill and Carsley in terms of appetite and attitude would be just the ticket in our current situation.
Ian bishop. In my panini sticker book heydayWest ham had a decent player called Bishop. If I remember correctly. My dad, who's a decent judge of a player (apart from me, he thought I was rubbish) really rated him.
Glad you wrote "down the line" was aghast for a minuteI miss his chipped / dinked balls down the line……
I don't get how people think Phil Neville is not likable! He was a consummate pro. Never heard anything bad about him.Nothing will make me remember Phil Neville fondly. Coleman may be crap now but he's at least somewhat likeable
He played for us...West ham had a decent player called Bishop. If I remember correctly. My dad, who's a decent judge of a player (apart from me, he thought I was rubbish) really rated him.
I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that teams are successful because they surround the referee rather than realising the reality that you get more leniency from and influence over referees when you’re successful. They do, absolutely.
Why didn't Moyes want Everton players surrounding the ref then? That entire squad lived and thrived on snide moments, like his own tackle against CR7. Yet, as a captain and a team we were always the "know your place" and "knife to a gun fight" "good guy" Everton.
Why?
Yeah.I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that teams are successful because they surround the referee rather than realising the reality that you get more leniency from and influence over referees when you’re successful.
