I’m glad the JUST PAY IT WHO CARES ITS NOT MY MONEY days are over on here. That wasn’t a great time.
So am I.
We’ve paid prices for players that no one ever would. So far we’re doing better this year with Brantheaite and the left back. They are low risk but potentially high reward signings.
Giving huge sums to a competitor is not sensible unless they are definitely world class.

It will be interesting if he starts pushing for a move from his side. he possibly has loyalty bonuses and things built in to his contract so it would cost him to do so. But I presume he is interested in coming if we have bid for him. The media keep saying he would rather go to spurs, which may be true or an assumption based on their current league position. I actually dont see Spurs out bidding us but they may match us up to £25m. I agree with most on here though that £35m is probably a bit high for this fella and there are other options

Did I just hear on TS that we have now offered them £30m, and they said No?????

Bloody hope not.

The thing is, if we just stop communicating with the other parties on this, the greater the likelihood of getting a deal at a reasonable fee.

I hope to God we don't end up doing Soton's work for them.

Sign him, don't sign him, I don't really care.

But lets not get caught with our pants down yet again.

I have a feeling we will sign him nearer the deadline when the reality of his contractual position hits home.

We can't afford to play chicken unless the player is 100% for coming here and throwing a wobbler if he doesn't, to the point Southampton haven't got a leg to stand on during negotiations.

We need to move on to other targets if not as it is a must to get CM fixed before the start of the season.

It seems like spurs have been told to up any offer and they are been given 48 hours before saints try to do some type of deal with us,if we want to sort any out,but the price off course depends on that-and if he wants to come to us after supposedly wanting to go to spurs
