Feels like he's an Ancelotti priority.

Mourinho wants him.

Guardiola apparently rated him highly at Bayern;

I get fans are sick of paying over the odds for 'average' names but we're a different operation now with Ancelotti.

His ball recovery rate is massive, the highest in the league. God only knows we need one of them.

There's a time and a place to pay over the odds, if he's Ancelotti's number one, and he's keen to come, then this could be one time.

Wasn't 14m included possible player trading as well? The player seems to want Spurs and Saints appear happy to wait for them to bid so I'd walk away. If he's happy to be a bit part player there rather he doesn't have the mentality we need.

He's not worth waiting on, but according to Joyce and McNulty it was £14m straight.

They will get £3.5m in the next winter window.

Spurs aint soft - unless Saints sell for less than £25 mil they'll wait until January and tap him up like Chelsea did with Barkley.

Dont get me wrong if Carlo wants him we should go out and offer decent money but anything over £25 million when he has 1 year left on his deal is suspect when we supposedly are needing to watch the pennies and need to strengthen about 5 positions.

Guess the final fee will be something like £18m rising to £23m.

We must be getting some sort of encouragement from the players reps to be placing bids.

I tend to just ignore the London-centric press of "he wants Spurs..."

Are we seriously arguing that Carlo can't properly assess the player's value to the side?

Youngest player ever to play for Bayern, started the Pokal final when Thiago was out injured, couldn't get a game at Bayern because that midfield at the time was beyond insane.

We can win a bidding war with Levy - he'll walk first, and probably earlier rather than later. Besides, who would you rather play for: Ancelotti or Mourinho?

We are desperate for a ball vacuum in the middle of the park. Just do what it takes and pinch the coppers elsewhere.

If he definitely was someone Carlo wanted, then yes. I think it's fairly understandable that as a fanbase we have reservations with paying big money for players that are - on the surface at least - nothing too special. Pep may have thought he was special, but Bayern were happy to ship him out to Southampton for just £12m the Summer he left for City.
