Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

I still think our reported interest is being used to drive up the price to Spurs.
All indications are that the guy prefers a move to the Big Smoke rather than Oop Norf.

Feels like he's an Ancelotti priority.

Mourinho wants him.

Guardiola apparently rated him highly at Bayern;

I get fans are sick of paying over the odds for 'average' names but we're a different operation now with Ancelotti.

His ball recovery rate is massive, the highest in the league. God only knows we need one of them.

There's a time and a place to pay over the odds, if he's Ancelotti's number one, and he's keen to come, then this could be one time.

I'd agree but we've been linked to Hojbjerg for quite a while, before Ancelotti's arrival, which indicates this is more of a Brands signing that Ancelotti is alright with.

Which is worrying.

Personally, with Ancelotti in charge, I wouldn't be against binning the DoF model so accountability for signings is absolute.

Carlo is buying his ex-players like the spanish disaster did? Hojbjerg, Allan, Lozano, Rodriguez.. I would prefer Kaka!
If he is tellign the truth that he is in it for the long hall, im sure he would want a couple guys to come in, know the system, give him some comfort and trust while he builds the youth and core of the squad. trust the man and good things will come :)

Yeah no this isn't true, the links only started the last month or 2.

Signings are absolute.

Every player signed while Brands is DoF is his player.

Not sure there was any credible reports prior Ancelotti mate. Had a quick scout for his name on here and nothing, really.

I still think;

We don't half need someone who can do this.

But then I'm conflicted - for me it all depends on how important Ancelotti thinks the lad is.

He was definitely linked with us last summer. Might have been a tenuous link at most but I recall it, as I watched him with more attention last season.

I agree the signings should be absolutely the responsibility of Brands, but we're already talking about "Ancelotti's" signings as a result of having a manager with that gravitas and a DoF that has brought in utter stinkers, so the balance of power isn't as cut and dry.

Yeah looked myself, can't find anything looking back but pretty sure it happened.

If not, fair enough, but again, I thought the whole point of a DoF was so the vision remains consistent and we don't have managers dictating signings.

Starting to subscribe to the whole '£20-25m tops or get swerved' attitude to this.

Have we? the first I heard about him was literally like two weeks ago..

If he definitely was someone Carlo wanted, then yes. I think it's fairly understandable that as a fanbase we have reservations with paying big money for players that are - on the surface at least - nothing too special. Pep may have thought he was special, but Bayern were happy to ship him out to Southampton for just £12m the Summer he left for City.

Meh. My point was Pep rated him - Pep left, they paid a near record fee for them/fortune for Renato Sanches and then the young 19/20 year old midfielder bailed to the Prem for some game time. Sensible move for him, really.

I personally had never even heard of him before we got linked last month.

People just want to feel good that Carlo is driving it and not Brands.

Brands hasn't gone rogue, he has the full backing of Carlo.

Carlo himself said a few days ago that they talk daily and make decisions together, if he's good people will credit Carlo, if he's bad people will blame Brands.

True.

Sometimes some players are blatantly on the manager though like Cuco Martina.
