20 million maximum as has experience in league and only1 year on his deal and asked for move away if possible ;-) We could get Koopmeiners and the Romanian lad we ve been linked with for less cash and wages combined ,-)

I personally had never even heard of him before we got linked last month.

People just want to feel good that Carlo is driving it and not Brands.

Brands hasn't gone rogue, he has the full backing of Carlo.

Carlo himself said a few days ago that they talk daily and make decisions together, if he's good people will credit Carlo, if he's bad people will blame Brands.
Seems all set up for this really, doesn't it?

Just don't see the point of retaining Brands then personally. Made sense with a no mark like Silva, or if we brought in Eddie Howe, so the philosophy is consistent.

Doesn't make much sense now unless Brands could reasonably be the same level at his job, and Iwobi alone shows he's not.

I know I joke, but Silva pushed Iwobi and so far, for me, its Brands only bad mark on his copybook.

Sure there are injury concerns with the rest, but none of them stand out as much as Iwobi, for me, I know loads will disagree.

People keep saying Brands role is useless with Carlo, how so? Brands will talk to the clubs, he will also sell or loan 10-15 of our current squad.

Carlo has worked with a DoF his whole managerial career, he spoke the other day about how important Brands is.

2 heads is better than 1.

I get that people have an axe to grind with Brands, but he reconfigured the scouting system last year and it seems to already be working with the signing of Bran Nesta.

Im not sure what people think Brands role is in the club, but I know for a fact that Carlo finds it invaluable.

Carlo or Brands it doesn't matter whos driving this, all I know is that they will have both decided this is the player they want, so get it done and move on to the next.

Brands' job isnt just to sign players for the first team though, he overseas the whole footballing strategy of the club, a bit like the CEO looks at the whole business side of things. It does absolutely sense to have someone purely focused on the football side of things rather than have a CEO covering everything (with branches underneath ofcourse). There is absolutely an underappreciated aspect of a DOF's role rather than just "hes signed a crap player" etc. Their role is a weird one as changes they implement now may only take affect 3/4 years down the line.

Brands will have fingers in all sorts of pies across the club and into the academy. He will work closely with many of the people to ensure there is consistency throughout the club and that things are linking together nicely. Takes time this but ultimately a DOF's job isnt just to do the negotiating and signing players. YES Talent ID is a part of the role working with the scouting team, but there are many other things too.

Whether Brands is the right person for the job, is a completely different question.

Because brands mandate is development of the whole footballing staff not just the first team... the appearance of our great young players coming through lately is evidence that his wider role is a glaring success

Omg those people! And our fans like to claim we have a smarter fanbase than other teams :Blink:

Just PAY THE MONEY for Moussa Sissoko. Just PAY IT for Lamine Kone. JUST PAY THE £40m for Giroud. It’s not your money, why you arsed? It’s the football club’s money, they have an endless supply of it from their money well, ffs just pay it!!!!!

I know you joke, but we literally do have an endless supply of money.

I do find it funny that most on here no next to nothing about him but if he costs over "X amount" walk away cos he ain't worth it.
