I still think our reported interest is being used to drive up the price to Spurs.
All indications are that the guy prefers a move to the Big Smoke rather than Oop Norf.
If the player had no interest in joining Everton I don't think we would bid.
It is not in the players interest or his agent to drive up the price as the only winner will be Southampton.

I feel it is more likely that we are increasing our bid to force Spurs to bid far more than they would expect or more likely still just walk away.

The player will be dear at 20 and 30 or cheap at 20 or 30 million.

We are delighted to have appointed CA as manager but apparently some do not trust him to sign players or pick the team because the players he continues to pick have become the scapegoat of some fans.

We arent bidding against Spurs, that would be silly from both clubs.

From what I can see we are talking to Saints and getting them to agree on a figure, at that point I reckon Spurs will match our fee, then it will be up to the player.

20 million maximum as has experience in league and only1 year on his deal and asked for move away if possible ;-) We could get Koopmeiners and the Romanian lad we ve been linked with for less cash and wages combined ,-)
We know that Hojberg performs well in the Premiership, the other two fall into the high risk category... they could be great or awful but more likely somewhere in the middle and we will take a substantial loss when they are sold on or released.

An article with some good analysis including the use of numbers which may scare some people off. Don't take notice of the complete certainty that he will he a Spurs player as they don't know anything on that front.

Anyway for the tl:dr crowd he's quite good and probably versatile enough to play different roles in the midfield.

If Spurs are interested then we are bidding against Spurs.
Not in the way that we remember when each club would top the bid of the other club until somebody dropped out.
But, we are bidding and rising the stakes for two reasons...to force Levy to pay far more than he would like or to walk away.
Because, a calculation has been made of the bottom line for Southampton and maybe not go quite there but close enough to get a dialogue going.

I assume this is a player wanted by Carlo, I would expect they will be anxious to be seen to be able to deliver for him rather than fail to somebody else.

I don't know enough about Hojberg to be enthusiastic about his signing, but if the manager wants him then he needs to be signed.... imo.

In no way is that specific to here, same for every clubs supporters. Same type who are like "Must sign this Magnifico Gonzalico because hes ace" despite never hearing of him before the random report linking him to us. Defiantely just going on him having a fancy name (relative to our country anyway!)

I think that could well be true, especially with the linked Romanian player cos I think a big majority of whom have failed to adapt when coming over here to play?

But that's a sensible position to take? Are you annoyed that we aren't all desperately clamouring for a player that's being linked to Spurs?

lol! why would I care if Everton supporters with their limited knowledge of a player want him or not?
I said pages back that I know nothing about him so I have no idea how good he is or what he's realistically worth. Also, as far as I know, Spurs have not even made a bid?

Well you obviously do care because you literally just posted about it?

i still feel like we're better off getting like only 1-2 established Premier league players but looking to get more younger unproven talent who are hungry for success. I know thats a big big challenge to find players whom we know are hungry and motivated, but I'm a bit scarred by Sigurdsson, Scheiderlin, Bolasie and Walcott, and wonder how we can change the culture of the players as well as the talent. I have not heard hojbjerg lighting up the Premier league? I don't know if small improvements are good enough now, we need probably 1-2 massive improvements in midfield and attack, and good hungry, young players to help bring up the other positions
