Sorry mate. It all got a bit confusing with (I think it was you?) saying that Spurs are an elite club and myself saying they are not. Proper weird way around that conversation was lol
Yeah and i still disagree but Goat was commenting on how you're in here with a waft of superiority but simultaneously saying you guys aren't "elite." I just find it interesting.

Head patting doesn't just mean an elite club.

The Sunderland fans do it and the likes of Watford and fans of all teams have done it over the years.

They come in with "Great club Everton, always liked them and their fans", then in the end they start singing "feed the scousers", thats head patting.

Tbf in the states I've never met a Sunderland or Watford fan. But the "big 6" super mega fans will do that crap all the time.

Spurs will never get anywere near our bid, I’m absolutely certain of that.

I think you are correct if you're saying that Spurs are pretty much skint but as we don't really know what Everton have bid (only paper speculation) then Spurs may well match your bid for a posistion we badly need to upgrade on?

There is also a chance that X club have spoken to the player and if the player doesn't want to X club but wants to join Y club, then Southampton risk the players value dropping considerably if they don't sell him (like Erikssen with us.) With only six months left, I think he only went to Italy for £12 million?

Problem for me is that he prefers Spurs. Do we want a player who would like to be somewhere else.
Isn't that all of the players though? Or at least the good ones. Like I'm sure Martina is over the moon to be here but someone like Richarlison gives it his all while dreaming of the truly massive clubs.

Joyce said 14m so I'd say that has definitely happened.

I always feel if you don't consider your club the best in the world, why do you even support them?

I would like to think if I supported Grimsby I would look down my nose at most clubs.

Sure your head tells you that you utter garbo, but never listen to your head, its stupid, your heart knows what its talking about.

I really hope that if we have a valuation of Hojbjerg, we don't end up just paying whatever they want. That doesn't do our bargaining power any good ahead of a summer where we really need to be on top form when it comes to transfer negotiations. Don't get me wrong, we definitely need players, but i don't want a repeat of our current situation in a couple of years when we're unable to shift players because we overpaid for them.

The wages per week define more if you can get rid or not compared to the purchase price. Potential to lose a lot of money still but you should be able to offset that with at worst a smaller sell on fee if wages are in the average category. This is where we have fallen down in recent years, Williams, Sandro, Snides, Siggy, Walcott, Bernard, Bolasie etc. etc. all earning far too much to make selling them for any value a realistic prospect unless they want to play (like Klaassen) or have made enough money and love of the club to walk away from a contract (Rooney).

£35m is a little too much.

It's not a little it's a lotto. :)

Lets drive up the price and let Spurs have him for £35m. No way Levy would sanction that and he'll be available on a free in 12 months.

Just cos I sometimes have a different opinion from Evertonians that doesn't mean I have an air of superiority. Spurs and Everton are both roughly the same size of club (with Spurs doing better lately but still winning nothing.)
