I am a confirmed Fernandes fan, but the tide of opinion on him has quickly changed from being [Poor language removed] to a world beaterafter a couple of good performences, the truth lies somewhere in the middle he is an un polished gem similar to Arteta and Pienaar when they signed, but he does still have a lot of deficencies in his game!

Agreed. He still has some things he needs to work on. Its more off the ball to be honest like work rate, tackling and the general gritty side of the game. He needs to be a little more tenacious at times.

On the ball he's fine. He reads the game well, passes it well, can pick up and slow down a game and has the technique and skills to succeed hear.

People may point to him losing the ball earlier on in his second spell but I put that mostly down to lack of match practice. He's hasn't conceded possession in dangerous areas for the past few games and he certainly didn't in his first spell.

Manny seems to divide alot of fans. Some people praise him to the hill tops and think he's the boy wonder, some are realistic and some completely dismiss his ability. I'd like to think I'm one of the realistic ones. I comment on both his strengths and weaknesses. My overall assessment is his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses which is why I want him signed.

There's a confidence about Manny that makes me think he's destined to play at the highest level. He has a cockiness on the ball that separates him from the likes of Pienaar, Osman and Arteta. He doesn't hide and he demands the ball on the big occasion.

I've given this massive thought and never really came up with a long list. Need to think about more, anyways here's some:

Arshavin
Ryan Taylor
Michael Owen
Sebastian Larsson
Cana
Joaquin
David Abelda
Manuel Fernandes - loan
Ebanks-Blake
Marvin Elliott
Victor Moses
Scott Sinclair

the 4 last one's are for youth purposes, but there some player's we should be looking at.

They're all decent players to be linked with. I'd take most of them except Albelda and Elliot, Albelda because I don't think he could adapt to the premiership and Elliott because I've never seen him play....infact I don't even know who he plays for. Victor Moses looks quality though.

Hard to believe but I'm in that camp.

Unfortunately, I have to deal with the "Manny out caused he screwed us over..." types and so it makes it look like I'm his biggest fan when in reality, I'm just defending him against those who could give a crap about how he's actually played and his actual potential because they've got an axe to grind.

At least a few on here have admitted as such so they get a pass as I've asked for such honesty. Others not so much.

Don't worry mate I know your in the "realist" camp when it comes to Manny. I've read your posts and you speak alot of sense.

The "Manny out" fans are just ridiculous. I'd love to see the proof that he actually [Poor language removed] us over. I don't know what to believe but I'm certainly not going to stick up for him or go against him until I get the facts of what actually happened in the summer.

Moyes never said anything, Irvine said it was an impossible transfer so I seriously haven't got a clue who to believe. I'm certainly not going to bash him because at the end of the day no one knows what went on bar one or two people.

Well reading some of the posts on here after he was gone, and you could have sworn that some of our members were there when it went down.

I understand that Everton supporters were upset. Shoot, I was upset.

But I also understood why Manny chose the last second move. Can't say that I agreed with it, but I understood it.

I'm just glad Moyes and Kenwright didn't harbor any ill will towards him for that whole debacle and I'm also glad that Manny's ego didn't get in the way, keeping him from coming back on loan.

I really think this will all work itself out in the end and with high degree of probability that it'll be in Everton's favor.

Bill are you for the loan move that was mooted today form the bbc? I

Absolutely !!!

Especially if Valencia think they're going to sell him close to what they paid for him because I think that the odds are very, very low that Moyes would put up that kind of money.

I think if all parties agree to it, that another loan would be an excellent idea for a few reasons:
  • Obviously to retain Manny's services for another 6 mos or year.
  • For Moyes to run rule over him and continue to evaluate him.
  • For Manny to develop his game and iron out the parts that he needs work on.
  • To retain funds for other transfer targets.
  • Maybe Moyes could work it out like Pienaar with pre-agreed price and right of first refusal.
  • Improves our squad depth with quality and not just quantity, even if it is just temporary.
  • For Valencia, it keeps him in the shop window as I assume he'd be getting regular playing time.
  • And lastly, I think the majority of supporters, regardless of what they think about Manny would be on board with that type of an arrangement.
I think it would be a good idea. (y)

I'm still not sure if a Valencia move was his choise; in my belief it was his agent's uh I mean owner's call. It kind of worked out for the best though, if we buy Manny do we have enough money to buy Yak?

Absolutely !!!

I agree for all the reasons you said above mate but only if the condiditions are right. By that i mean there has to be an option to buy at a reasonable price which i imagine would take some haggleing, Valencia could e up for it as it would mean a potential fund coming in next season as they are selling most of their crown jewels this summer!

I am undecided over one detail though if its a good thing for manny the person or not! On hand i think he may perform to his optimum with a question mark hanging over his head. The other part of me would like to see the lads future settled once and for all so he can finally concentrate on a stable role at a club for a few years, without worrying about where he will be in a few months time or third party ownership and all that stuff. I think these aspects of his club life thus far have hampered his development.

Tis a toughie!

short term i think another loan for fernandes would be excellent.

long term though i think its not good. especially for the player himself.
its a shame but i think the money men behind fernandes are pretty much wrecking/wrecked his career.

currently he must just be playing for the pay check only rather than pride.
that's not to say anything bad about him but more about his situation.

why would he give his all for everton (or any other loan club) if all we do is loan him and dont look like buying him.why should fernandes give a [Poor language removed] if we win a trophy or get relegated ?
then the flipside , why would he give his all for valencia if he went back there ? they dont want him and shipped him out asap !

the lad needs to pick a club and settle otherwise he will just end up on the [Poor language removed] heap wondering where it all went wrong.

after years of having his head controlled by his agents and bs money men , i think a permanant move to everton would do him and the club wonders.

Abelda would be a great addition to the squad imo and for a free, he's already expressed his desire to move to the Premiership.

Marvin Elliott play's for Bristol City, he's a defensive midfielder/centre midfielder, very good young player, done very well for City this season.

Manny need's Everton more then Everton needs him.

Manny need's some stability in his career, and he'll get that at Everton.

Great manager, good player,s good team spirit, seem's to get on well with the lad's.

He need's a permanent move but i think a year's loan will do good for him and us because of financial difficulties.

I'd be very happy with Michael Bradley

I think Michael Owen is worth a look too

how about that guy in Fenerbache, Deivid? or Wagner Love at CSKA?

probably long shots and I have no clue how much they would cost, but both are world class players
