I think I'm missing the football less and less each day.

I think the constant bleating on about it by sky and other media outlets has made this so. Some of the suggestions on how to get it finished have been hilarious, until you then realise the people making the suggestions are being serious.

End of the day, the players are the most important factor here, and if they down tools, then you can't play the game, it's that simple.

Had it been a basic footballer like Ben Mee or something, i don't think anyone would pay attention, but because it's someone like Aguero, i think alarm bells will be ringing now.

Mind you, if I was getting £6m a year I'd be willing to take the risk! Though of course Aguero can take the £6m AND avoid infection by not playing.

Wouldn't even be that. Our own PL 'match day income' (which covers all revenue streams on matchdays, not just from ticket sales) is short of £20m for a full season. The cost to Everton would only be something like £4m -- so I'm sure the club owners would see that as a worthwhile cost if it were to mean that remaining fixtures get played and so TV monies retained.
The bigger, longer term, issue though is surely the question of whether the PL product has been fatally wounded. If it has then I think we can say goodbye to our revival -- and very probably to BMD and our current owner(s).

I watched one or two of the matches they have been putting on You Tube from the 80's ,to be honest the game has moved on with fitness and training but it was a man's game then and in the Derby ( Joe Royle's first game in charge ) when we were bottom of the league it was a real good game -yes because we won -and if it went back to that it would be a fine by me .The sky money has polluted the game but like me others living abroad might suffer unless it was on Uk tv and then we might be able to watch .
This sky bubble must burst one day and may be this is the year .
On the comment about the broadcasters being amenable to a compromise I read that sky will have to negotiate soon , with Amazon and Google hovering around so they are less likely to think of a severe punishment .

Just scrap the season people's lives are far more important than anything else, it will be a farce playing in mask's empty stadium's... I hate saying it but give the title to the sh__e and start the new season when it's safe for us all to go back, and something should be done to stop these crazy wages players are on.. A wage cap should be brought in across every level of top fight football.

I fully agree. I won’t be watching because football in empty stadiums has little resemblance to the sport I follow and subsequently holds no interest for me personally.
But matchgoing fans boycotting it would be of little concern to the authorities. Nowadays the game is consumed globally and the influence of the vast international armchair audience far outweighs that of the ordinary supporter.

If it did start up again from where we left off and we played our home game against Liverpool in an empty neutral stadium and we beat them they'd say

This pretty much sums it up for me. Nobody knows for sure what lasting effects the virus leaves for those who get it. There is no guarantee whatsoever that there is a black and white "you die or you don't, if you're young you'll be totally fine" situation. You read about the state of people's lungs who have had it and that would end most player's careers if there is even minimal loss of lung function. No amount of money they get paid takes that uncertainty away. Then there's their families - risking them OR being quarantined from them for ages is both unacceptable

I still honestly can't believe they're even talking about rushing through finishing the season. In any humane country this wouldn't even be talked about, but we're a country that sees tens of thousands of deaths as a success so it isn't a surprise really

I'm sure they'll either do a partial refund or will give you a discount for your next season ticket

In emails they've said more than once that they'll do right by season ticket holders
