Poll: Complete the season at neutral venues behind closed doors

Working off the presumption that some sort of normality starts to return from August onwards, this certainly seems to have traction elsewhere, however, we have own unique Government and scientists, so we may well behind the curve...

I dont see how normality returns for quite some time personally.

Sure we will see things start to get back to normal, but I fail to see how we go from here to 40,000 people in football stadiums this side of 2021.

Personally I think it will be at least 12 months before we see people in football stadiums.

Absolutely.
All the discussion over attempting to complete this season has somewhat obscured what is going to happen to next season.
Coronavirus will still be with us and it will be a continual battle to keep the rate of infection down to manageable levels. There is consequently no chance at all, that multiple gatherings of tens of thousands of people cramming into stadia across the country once a week will be countenanced.
Keeping the infection rate down and the economy running will be the priority for the foreseeable future.
Clearly football will have to find some way to survive, the question is how?
Vastly reducing the capacities may be an option, but this would anger many ST holders and there remains the chance of people gathering outside.
Perhaps the only viable idea would be to suspend the normal competitions and play some form of alternative temporary tournament, to allow clubs to receive some form broadcast revenue.

I think write this season off one way or another, football behind closed doors is rubbish , football is for the fans after all. once its voided they can start to plan what to do for the start of the new season .

No point trying to restart this season at all, what if one of the players tests positive? an important player in a team. he isn't injured but the side are without him for 2 weeks at least, then there is the chance of the whole team being isolated because they have been training with him.

Also the chance of an opposition side having to isolate because a player in an opposing team they have played has tested positive on the Monday after a game on the Saturday. yeah they will do testing but unless they test every single day there are chances for that to happen

The next Everton home game could be in the new stadium with a full house of vaccinated fans. 21/22?

Football supporters may be vaccinated earlier but cos of disruption and how often new stadium builds very often overrun I think the new stadium won't be open before 2024?

Austria were looking to re-start their league until the health minister said if a player tests positive then the whole team must quarantine plus the team they just played. Absolutely no chance our government take the chance. Zero chance of football returning in June.

It can be done with 40000 Everton official hazmat suits. A new product line.

As of today, 10 players in the Bundesliga currently suffering from covid-19

whatever they do, void the season, PPG or finish the season in natural venues with no crowds, wearing face masks and minimal contact someone will have a valid reason to complain - especially if we relegated.
At least by voiding the season they are acknowledging the surreal situation the world finds itself in and that a game of kickball just isn’t that important when people are dying.

Agreed.

Stuartistic is also correct that the league, and therefore its constituent members, face legal action no matter what. Void the season, and the Reds will want compensation for all the title merchandise they don't sell. Relegate anyone or fail to promote anyone in position, and they'll want their piece of the full TV contract.

To paraphrase Khomeni a bit, the almighty pound is likely to determine how this shakes out. If enough clubs determine that playing renders them likely to sustain claims for damages in excess of the TV contract and any improvement in their legal situation brought about by finishing the season, they'll void the season. The fact that they're pushing to finish tells you something about their current beliefs on that front.

My gut tells me that you will play if the Germans play, and that you won't if they do not play or have to suspend play again.

While people are still dying all these nonesensical plans to " restart " are an affront to all!. Imo until all fatalities have stopped for 14 days on the bounce no football related schemes should even be considered. As I said in an earlier post we must null and void as all the suggested scenario's are based on financial/self serving greed.Safety must come first !. It's about time a bit of honesty was shown by the FA and the Premier League. What they are showing us at the moment is highly distasteful and an indecent rush whilst nobody is safe!.
