Poor Striking Toggerists

True but that doesn't fix the hip replacements and stuff like that and the plethora of joint and ligament operations through their careers.

It's not as bad as in basketball but it's definitely not great when they stop playing.
I've had my hip done twice. Done my ACL, cartlidge, broken bones in my foot. Riddled with Arthrhitis. If I have overtime in I buy Anadin super. 😊

Oh I'm not saying it excuses anyone for this behaviour, just that it's also understandable. No doubt a pro footballer's life is way more physically tasking than a regular person, or a semi-pro footballer etc.

Anadin doesn't work well enough for my back pain though, so lucky you lol

Totally devastated for them, I had no idea. I'm speed dialing Bono and Bob now, my God we'll get this sorted for them. I'm thinking a headlining slot on the 6 o'clock news, gather a few footballers up and put them in a field to show their plight and bring awareness to this impending humanitarian crisis.

After that let's get a charity single out with all the pop stars of today, "Do they know it's 11:30(am) and I'm just going home, at all".

Then a big concert at Wembley called 'Dive Aid', where Bob can swear and plea to the country that "there are footballers right now who can't spend their fecking money, so what's the point in them being millionaires!"

I just hope they can hang on until we fix it.

lol lol "Dive Aid" lol lol

League 1 and League 2 teams have to play 46 league games as standard, 49 if they get to the playoff final. On top of that they enter the FA Cup and League Cup at the 1st round stage, and also have to play minimum of 6 games in the FA Trophy. They basically have to play weekend-midweek all season, including on international break weeks. They also don’t have millions upon millions to spend on assembling a super squad to compete on all fronts. Cry me a river because a fella on £200k a week has to play 50 games in a season.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room: the mores games they play, the less time they have to do sponsorship deals and sun themselves. That's the crux of it.

This is about players with the power and money to manipulate the situation, and the proposed Super League will only be strengthened by this.

They want the flexibility to play more of the lucrative games, and less of the games that the majority of fans care about and get to experience.

Yes. Also, do they understand how strikes work? Genuinely I bet they don’t. I bet they don’t understand that when you go on strike you don’t get paid. Throw that one in front of them and let’s see what the appetite to strike is like then. ‘kin wet wipes.

But what will they constitute as striking? I bet they'll not refuse to play a CL games or an important PL games, oh no. It'll be the League Cup that gets the chop first.

Then the FA Cup, and any similar competition aboard. Oh, and which competitions are certain teams and managers moaning about, and have done for a while?

This is about freeing up capacity for them to do what they want, rather than what they're currently doing - players' welfare, my arse.

Same, they're traveling even the smallest distances via private jets and chauffeurs and are still cryarsing fgs

I've played in the lower leagues here ages ago and it's horrid to have to travel for a full day there and back in a crappy small bus or whatever full of people - that I'd get, it's time away from your life spent on the road for next to nothing (or in some cases nothing but a meal after the game), it's not good for you physically or mentally. Can't imagine how it would be if you're playing in L2 and have to go from south to north or vice versa for a single game, then having to play again a day and a half after it somewhere else too ffs
Agreed or National league and working Monday to Friday as well.
My dad played Basketball in the British top flight and then dropped down to divisions 2 and 3. That's semi pro and playing for expenses. All day in a mini bus (big blokes) from London to Plymouth or Middlesbrough for expenses.
He was away a lot and we weren't exactly rolling in money as a result.

And they all rest them for cup games as well. Not much chance of that with a 15-16 man squad.

I was expecting this thread from the title to be about strikers with poor goal scoring records not about overpaid millionaires claiming they're overworked

I enjoyed watching him I have to add. Used to be on TV a bit as well. Channel 4.

According to the Beeb, FIFA have been warned that soccer players are so overworked and tired and 'don't get the time to spend their millions' (sic)

What say ye? As a union man I wouldn't cross a picket line, but, for the love of all that's holy 😱

I thought this would a be a thread about footballers who can't strike the ball properly and so was confused why this wasn't in the main forum
