Portsmouth F.C. (1898-2010) ?

Why shed a tear?

This is a club that vastly overspent. Vastly. £75,000 a week for John Utaka, a player Moyes thought he had signed;
Harry Redknapp was definitely a factor. He would have been pushing certain deals through, Sol Campbell for instance. He was on £105,000 a week after tax.

They deserve it. The fans don't, but Portsmouth do.

Pity Portsmouth? I pity them about the same as I pity people who spend beyond their means (or as Reidy says, people who buy plasmas without a pot to piss in).

excellent post agree with your sentiments

The people to feel sorry for, as Danny said, are the fans who've spent their hard earned cash following Portsmouth over the years and seen all the money they've put into the club squandered in such a nonchalant way by the people in charge. It's very sad for them.

this could well be the post you mean ......
people who refer to you as "hun" really get on my whazz, they of a certain type as well, chav mums in their 30's, walking round in their ugg boots/ velvet tracky bottoms/ loads of slap/bluetooth on their ear at all times, never do shag all but are in a rush and have to associate with the most affluent people they can find, which usually turn out to be people just like them who are living their lives in a false enviroment where all that matters is the impression that they are loaded.....when in reality they are usually debted up to their foundation line and havent got a pot to piss in.......... i shall enjoy this credit crunch i reckon, sure i'll have to cut back on a few things but the "huns" of this world are the ones that will fall the furthest.
i dont use the term but i know a few who do.

You can do deals with the police...you can do deals with the CPS...but you don't mess with HMRC...if you owe them then thats it...lights out and goodnight Vienna...

Scary people...they can ruin your day

I am a taxpayer under PAYE, tax is taken out every month. If the employer as in this case Portsmouth do not pay over the deductions then screw them. When the proper dues are not paid we all suffer in higher income tax rates. I have no sympathy whatosever with the owners of Portsmouth but I do with the fans because most of them will have paid for season tickets etc out of taxed income.

As far as I am concerned the HMRC football unit should turn every club over and make them keep up to date with their tax obligations.

this whole shambles of a club has had more owners than than jordans minge and yet today they claim to have not 1but 2 serious potetial investors/owners how the f..k are they finding these people are they insane?

on another note if they can find people to invest in a buisness that the tax man is aching to rape its assets to claw money owed back and shut down why can't we??

i we dont want the same type of fly by night owner who will do the same kind of incompetent job as them but surly there must be some one out there for us even just to pump some funds in for a partial share of the club ie 30% ownership for i dunno 70 mill? it just make you think that we cant find 1 possable investor an yet the seem to have a neverending supply.

surly everton is a more attractive investment than portsmouth on every level tbh im at a loss

I had similar thoughts to you. However, as you say I don't want some random coming in and then buggering off when he feels like it and I definately don't want two random Americans! But you're right it's massivley annoying seeing loads of teams taken over yet ours never gets close.
What's worse is i'm surrounded by Southampton fans who i'm pretty sure have more than us! That to me is crazy.

Their Henry worship and singing "we want five" when Arsenal were smashing them 4-0 the other year made me dislike them loads.

The Sky cameras were on them and didn't they just love it.

I think the potential investors sniffing around Portsmouth are all wastes of space but Pompey are desperate & so are considering anyone with an interest to be a really attractive proposition. These potential new investors probably wouldn't be given the time of day by many League 1 clubs so I'm not worried about the amount of people that Portsmouth seem to be speaking to.

Other clubs seem to attract new investors while we - despite seeming like a far better proposition - are getting sod all so that's a concern but if Portsmouth keep selling to any tosser who claims to have a few quid it doesn't bother me in the least

If they were to go away as of tomorrow, does everyone that gained any points against them then obviously get those taken away correct?

I would hate to be a club that is fighting relegation and got 6 pts off of Portsmouth and that might be the difference between staying up and going down.

i think and cant be sure but if they stop exsisting as of now mid season all results become void so as we beat them we would lose the 3 pts (n)

This whole thing is ridiculous. Supporters of Chelsea and Citeh should take note.

I wouldn't directly compare the two owners of those clubs to the scammers that have taken control over Portsmouth recently, but when expenses do not equal revenues, eventually the owner will tire of footing the bill and will skip town. When that happens, there will be debts that cannot be paid because they were never based on any sort of rational business model.
