According to the guardian it was mentioned that Portugal is the most valuable team in Europe based on speculative transfer fees. They sure didn't show it.

Maybe it was starting 11. Spain's back 4 is [Poor language removed] though so it might push Portugal over the top. Portugal has 20M Carvalilo, 17M Bostwanga and 30+M rated Valente.

The Portuguese defence has been transfered for 100M €.

Pepe 30M
Carvalho 30M
Bosingwa 20M
Ferreira 20M

I can never get enough of saying RICARDO IS CRAPP!!!

I know Ferreira was weak. He lost the runner (Shweinsteiger) in the first goal, and with a bit more sense he'd have gone down after Ballack's push (I'm sure the ref would've given a foul if he'd gone down). But where were Pepe and Carvalho in those two goals. The whole defence was all over the show.

On the whole Germany were better. Podolski plays far better for his country than his club from what I've seen. Ballack looked like the Ballack of old. Shweinsteiger looks like a **** but I'd love him in a blue shirt. On the Portuguese side, Deco was the only one who lived up to his billing. Ronaldo was absent. Simao started well and faded quickly. If Bosingwa learns to defend he'll be the best right back in the world coz he looks good going forward.

Pepe and Carvalho were marking their opponents in the second and third goals.

In the first one, bosingwa allowed Podolski to go for the cross, when he should have made him cut inside because Pepe was thereabout waiting for it to happen.

Bosingwa is a freight train, but sometimes his poor judgement lets him down.

Ronaldo is one strange thing. I don't remember an outstanding match for Portugal. Sometimes he knicks some goals and people go crazy about him, but in truth that only hides the fact he is not THAT player, at least not with the national team.

Ronaldo certainly hasn't been very good. But thinking about it none of the Premier league stars have shone. Fabregas hasn't done much. Torres looks like the player Atletico Madrid sold rather than the one the rs bought.
I'd have to say Ballack has been the pick of the bunch. Oh, and Van Der Sar kept Holland in the game against Russia.

Its the role you play him in. He was more or less playing in the hole against Germany and that doesn't suit him. He's usually given the ball with his back to goal and that isn't his style. He's a dribbler and his pace and dribbling ability need to be used correctly. He should be played on the flanks and be aloud to drift wherever he wants like he does at Utd.

Until Portugal devlelop a half decent striker you'll never get the best out of Ronaldo in my opinion. Its definatly one position your light in. Are there no young strikers coming through?

How's Yannick Djalo devloping?

Djalo is crap mate...

Lousy first touch and even worse finishing. He can score the most dificult goal and the next minute he'll lose the easiest goal of his life.

One of the hated players by the fans.

I think the main flaw in Ronaldo with Portugal is his attitude. He's too vain to play for us. He thinks of himself as king of country. Well, he's not. And the media hype is to blame. He's good, but sill is far far away from making to the top 5 players in the history of the country.

I've been told Djalo's crap before actually. When he came through I thought he was promising but he's obviously gone downhill.

You definatly need a striker though. Someone who can play upfront on his own and score goals.

How's Pele devloping at Inter. Does he has a chance of breaking through to the national team?

he's a midfielder. He has played a lot of games for inter, and Mourinho wants him for next season.

Well, Postiga is returning to Portugal, he'll play for Sporting. He's not pacey bit he has some qualities. Almeida is still in time to develop.

We'll have to wait and see.

But right now we need a left back. There is no one left footed to play there.
