Ah well, it's your opinion monty, just stick to it. Can't say I've ever heard of him, but certainly agree with your last line.

I am probably going to give a few positive reps, probably sooner rather than later. Some people here deserve it.

The thing is though...I prefer to give discreetly. I'd do it except there apparently is a way for people to trace who gave the positive feedback. That's actually a bit of a stumbling block for me. That's why I hesistate.

I don't want to give positve reps to win favor or get some in return. And I don't want to weird anyone out by appearing to solicit favor either.

I'll get over this soon enough.

Only people who have "forum supporter" or are a Mod can see who gives it mate.

Just a pointer, if you do give people it and leave your name, they may wish to respond in kind when you next write something they like.

If you're shy, I promise I won't look. :P

If you like post, for whatever reason, give that person some positive rep and tell them why. Put your name with the comment so if they aren't a forum supporter, they'll know it came from you.

I'm not big on giving negative rep unless someone's on a complete windup (ex. Arteta's the worst player for Everton, etc...) then they've got it coming.

Understand on point #1.

Understand on point #2 as well. Not interested in any quid pro quos though. What I write stands and falls on its merits - or lack of. (If I sound like I'm "related to a computer", etc...)

There may come a point where I want to compare notes with someone on who we've given postive reps to, but I am the first to admit I haven't built the sort of reputation to make my opinions matter in this regard.

Don't have to.

You're a forum participant and therefore have a valued opinion. Don't need to have a built up reputation to make your voice heard.

Negative reps are there to let someone know that you strongly disagree with a comment that they've made. Who cares if they give you one back?
If you've left it, then you've made your point, and vice versa for positives.
Other than that, they mean little bud.:)

Very nice of you to write this...You know what I mean though...Come on.

Let's not be naive.

I can't see myself giving negative reps to be honest. I'm not the police here. But there are already some who absolutely should be told how valued their opinions are and it is those people that I will enjoy giving giving positive feedback to.

Time for me to shut up now...

1 post or 20 thousand, you're just as important to any forum. :)

It doesn't matter.

Once you're on GOT, you're in the clique. You can say what you want and rep who you want.

Like I said, I give a lot more positive rep than negative rep (probably 20 - 1) so if you agree with a post, rep it.

Don't be worried about the little coloured squared boxes mate, if you're sound then it doesn't matter how many or what colour.

They're all a bit gay anyway.

Can't believe I happened across this post and it actually references me. Anyway, you can't do what you want to do as regards anonymous rep, I can't think of a way round that.

I would say though that the most telling way you can let someone know you value their opinion is to engage with them and reply to their posts. If your replies are terrible and don't really contribute anything, people like me will let you know by saying things like, "This is nonsense mate" or "Thanks, but no thanks".

You are clearly pretty clever, get in there and scour around.

Pretty much agree with what's been said by other members regarding your posts.

It doesn't matter for how long you're posting, or how many posts you make in a day. We're all equal on here, although we might have different reasons to come on here. I mean, it's an Everton forum and I love the opportunity to talk about all things Everton. Do like the Ale House even better though. Just love the contant going off topic in all sort of threads in there.:D

Also, don't take the green dots (or a few red ones) too serious, because that's just all that they are. I very seldom give neg rep (only to wum, supporting Everton or another team). Only give pos rep when I enjoy, agree or have to laugh about something another member has posted. Have to admit I enjoy GOT and have a fair few good laughs browsing it. Don't give rep back, just because someone decided to give me some.

Anyway, nice to see you're enjoying yourself on here.(y)

Thank you. I can't resist the off-topic ones myself...I do have a footy question for you, Dutch, about supporting other teams. You are Everton, first and last and kneel at the altar of Dixie Dean, Kendall, etc...But, do you have second team you follow? Either in England or Holland. (I admit to liking some of the lower level teams I've managed in Football Manager, and play Feyenoord in soccermanager.com.But I don't buy their shirt, follow their results, etc.)

Hey, I was all set to throw out my few "cashews" (as opposed to mere peanuts) out there and then I realized I didn't know HOW to give positive reps. Can you, or someone else, fill me in? Please. I was trying to figure out how to do it but after about 10 minutes of poking around on "user" functions, I gave up. Figured someone here would tell me and I'd save time, particularly when I'm actually supposed to be working!!

Well, we're at it...How does this point system work? Might as well get out these questions out there all at once.

But, as some here have said, I'm not going to stress too much about these things going forward...But given it's still the ---honeymoon seems the wrong word, but the infancy of my tenure here, now does seem like the right time to ask.

OK -back to the dull part of my day.
