Player Valuation: £70m
Right, sod that Portugese, he obviously isn't a decent person. So lets move on.

When is Cahill fit? What about Vaughan? Yakubu should bar a miracle be an Evertonian by the weekend.

I would have been elated with Fernandes, but I will not be that disappointed if we sign Yakubu.

Although I would be ecstatic if we spent the money for Fernandes on Morten Gamst Pedersen. That would be the icing for me, less of a luxury player, but [Poor language removed] what a left foot.

Now if Gazdalf says its true then I'll be happy, or maybe I can dream?

One thing I can be happy about is we obviously have the money to spend, so lets see what we can do.

beat me too it...

MGP, he didnt play great on saturday, not great by a long stretch, but then... who did.

(jags and baines were very good)

i'd take a left footer of MGP's class before fernandes every second of every minute of every day of the week....

...and twice on sundays!

Crap, I'll miss Fernandez. You think if we throw some of that money at Reading they'd send us Steven Hunt?

As far as Yakubu goes, I'm guessing he's coming, he was initally denied a WP when he signed for Boro. However, I'm not too high on him. We could have gotten Viduka on a free. Viduka was a far superior striker on Boro. Granted Viduka is also a fatter, lazier and older (perhaps) player, he'd be a better fit on EFC. For all his girth, Yak seems to have trouble knocking down long balls and has a bad habit of going invisible for months. I'm not sure I'd start him over Anichebe.

you have some great points there mate but i think once vaughen is fit its him stiaght in the squad at the expence of anichebe!!

Why would you want that?

The club were willing to spend over 10million on Fernandes, there must be money available to buy players. Its going to be a busy week.

I'm usually positive... but I can't see us assembling a deal for anyone of any quality for any sort of reasonable price before the 31st. We'll be ripped off considerably by clubs seeing us as desperate.

I'm absolutely stunned by the Manny news - the deals been in the bag for the good part of a week...

Only Everton.

Hope so, now it's time for the board to show how effective they are. Finding a replacement and completing the deal in 4 days is not easy.

Doesn't it strike anyone as bizarre that we fight for weeks for a player and Valencia are able to snap him up in 24-48 hours without a fuss?

Conspiracy theories are going to go through the roof. KEIOC will have a field day!

I think that KEIOC may have helped persuade that two faced git to go elsewhere. When considering all aspects the only people to have acted in good faith throughout this sordid affair is EFC. Benfica must have known for sometime that others were bidding and they have simply allowed us to be gazzumped, IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT CLUB HAVE ACTED IN UNDERHAND FASHION IN TRANSFER DEALINGS, I did warn you all of that fact in the Manny thread, it seems to be the fashion with Portugese clubs

At the end of the day if you were him where would you rather play, at a club who has fans fighting an open war with the board, playing in a dilapidated stadium in a country where you don't understand the language and the weather is [Poor language removed], or Valencia.............I know what we think but for him it was a no brainer, loyalty means bugger to these money soaked mercenaries.

Unless we sign Riquelme then EFC should put the cheque book away and we will still go forward although now, through no fault of our own it will be a bit harder.

Careful Monty, if I had said all of that I would have been accused of being tactless. But you are spot on, we can't really blame the club here for trying to bring some class into the club.

Really strenghten's the argument to move to Kirkby.

Ghost, I'm used to it, the sooner we move on the better and some of our more vociferous fans need to take a bloody good look at themselves as they keep on shooting themselves in the foot

Are you talking collectively? Like the mailbag at TW?

But we need to move and thank god we are now. Unless the UN blocks the move for fear of unfair competition with the top 4.

If I read that load of bollox I would be in a straight jacket(y)
