That club statement is a big error in terms of a proportional response.

Everyone was disappointed the game couldn't have gone ahead. However, this is a pandemic and all bets are off when a club is being affected to such an extent that it will also likely represent a danger to Everton players too.

It is lacking in class to demand "full disclosure" in such a public manner. If they wanted full disclosure they should have kept that as part of a dialogue with the PL and City.

I'm actually shocked and not a little bit ashamed by that EFC statement.
You are normally the first to put the boot in when the club doesn't stick up for themselves Dave, and all too often you are right to do so. Thought you would welcome that statement given neither City or the PL are very forthcoming with the facts

If people did what they where told in the 1st place would have gone by now
Would it?

Ive been doing what I’ve been told, but like many people on here as a beneficiary of tier 2, if I wanted to, I’m able to go to a crowded gym and use all its equipment straight after the previous person, go into a bar or restaurant with dozens of other people (provided I order a substantial meal of course), I’m able to get on a packed public transport system, go into a football stadium with 2000 other fans etc. Just make sure to wash your hands and wear a thin piece of cloth over your face.

Oh do one Dave you contrarian pain in the backside. Lol.
I’m glad we’re sticking up for ourselves.

I still love you though

This has nothing to do with the decision itself, if there's an outbreak in the City camp then the decision to postpone is the right one - the players' health is far more important. The problem is without transparency this can happen to any club and the Premier League come to a different decision and force them to field a team or forfeit. Without knowing the exact conditions in which a game can be postponed it opens it up to potentially unfair decisions being made against clubs, especially if the PL get to the point of being concerned about not being able to complete the season.

Liverpool gave played with player out with Covid, Arsenal have players out with Covid, Newcastle have players out with Covid, why are City any different
City have played games with players missing with covid. Earlier in the season they were missing Gundohan, Laporte & Mendy. The biggest problem yesterday was the possibility of further undiagnosed cases and the threat to compromising Everton's safety.

There's one precedent for a PL game being impacted fully by COVID - and that was the Newcaste-Villa game. That got called off.

If City can't play their cup games next week, however, then based on the precedent of the Spurs-Orient League Cup tie, then City should have to forfeit.

Not quite mate.
It was written in the League/Carabo Cup rules that any club affected by Covid up to round 4 that cannot complete the fixture, they have to concede the game.
I'm assuming that the rules were so harsh because from round 5 which was the week afterwards and with European competition then being a weekly event, finding any extra dates in this congested season was going to be difficult?

Time is different, covid cases are spiking and cities are back in lockdown...would be irresponsible of the Premier league to ignore that....

we all want the football to continue, but safety of players, all club staff, and all their families has to come first...

The only surprise for me is our game has been the only premier league so far over this Christmas period that has had to be postponed...and lets hope it remains that way..

I reckon as soon as we go back into lockdown, then give it a week, and if there's growing cases and teams not being able to train, then there'll be pressure to call it off.

Can foresee a 3-4 week break mid-Jan to Feb.

Up to the leagues around Europe then to demand that the Euros don't go ahead. What's the point in them now.

We'd all be gutted to see that happen, but it might have to.

From a selfish point of view, I can't have it happen, I can't lose the vast majority of my work again, I'll be knackered. But I have a feeling it's going to.

I dont know what the criteria is for calling off a game , I would certainly like to know if certain clubs have been receiving special dispensation, criteria should of been in place and published before the start of the season, its another fraud of a season if certain clubs have unfair advantage.

Personally I think it's a massive result for us to have it postponed. If it's postponed to the end of Jan, we'll have a full strength squad available.

Can agree with some of what you say. But we have had 2 lockdowns which worked but as soon as they were lifted rates went up. The economy.has and is still being trashed. Billions in debt. I like you you stick to the rules. I do go being o the gym. You book an hour slot. Then the gym is closed for 15 minutes for a deep clean before the next hour us taken. Humans can't lock themselves away. It's easier for older people. But take yourself back to being 20 chasing women drinking with your mates. It's s bit harder for young people
