Liverpool gave played with player out with Covid, Arsenal have players out with Covid, Newcastle have players out with Covid, why are City any different

Because City have now had to shut down their training ground because they have had 8-9 positive tests.

Newcastle's training ground had to shut a few weeks ago because of that.

The worry is that the same people who tested negative on Xmas Eve have now tested positive three days later.

It's spreading through the squad so you can guarantee that in their next round of tests, they'll have a few more positive cases.

Liverpool gave played games with both Mane and Salah having Covid at one point of another

Yes, but they tested the other players in those incidents and had no other positives.

Salah - he was on international duty, but given it was November, if he hadn't been, you can guarantee that they'd have had more positives in their squad.

Mane and Thiago both tested positive in September, when the weather was better, and the rates of infection were lower. Liverpool had two rounds of testing which then came up with no further positive tests.

City had Jesus and Walker out through Newcastle, but the difference is, they've tested the squad again the day after boxing day and been hit with a new batch of positives. So, it's spreading.

No, it wouldn't

People were mixing households a lot more in the summer than now, and mixing in in pubs etc, without wearing masks until about mid-August, either.

It was the summer, rates were really low.

We're now in the winter and the virus spreads more in the colder, crap weather - like any other virus. People get ill at this time of year, it happens.

People have 'done what they've been told' in countries all over Europe - and the virus is here. It's not going anywhere, ever. It's here for good.
Don’t wanna argue over Covid but it doesn’t help when you have morons who simply don’t think it’s real and other idiots marching through town without masks and what not.
People could abc should v be e doing a lot more to prevent it

Though that 14 player rule seemed to be the rule if you believed papers etc, I read yesterday that it was been took case by case as to if and when Games were called off-so as ever no one knows what the actual rules or truth is or was as we are left in the dark

There's one precedent for a PL game being impacted fully by COVID - and that was the Newcaste-Villa game. That got called off.

If City can't play their cup games next week, however, then based on the precedent of the Spurs-Orient League Cup tie, then City should have to forfeit.

You think City won’t be able to play for at least 10 days, so your looking at them calling off Chelsea and the Utd cup game

Of course it doesn't.

But the vast, vast majority of people have followed the rules all year. It didn't spread as much in the summer despite the fact that people were mixing.

You're absolutely right but this virus would still be here if we were all locked away - need the vaccines, don't we.

Do you think the Premier League should have made the decision before consulting both clubs?

Let’s break a myth here. Everton should not have been consulted here. It’s a health and safety decision, not a moral quandary (eg a significant death putting game into doubt)

However, they deserve absolute transparency, an understanding of how many players impacted, when the decision was made and why the fixture was treated differently to others

They'll be having more tests in the next day or two. If they get no positives, I guess they'll be allowed to go back in.

If they have any positives, they won't be able to train so they'll have to call off Chelsea and probably United, yes.

I mean absolute transparency is kind of the same as consultation isn't it.

All it took was the Premier League getting on a conference call with both clubs, City explaining the predicament, documents filed over and the decision made.

You would imagine that with them closing the training ground that had a lot more test.
I think the game getting cancelled was a benefit to us

Not for me - consultation is asking EFC opinion on whether game should go ahead. Transparency = exactly why it’s being postponed

Well, Everton should have had a say.

IF City's reasoning was they couldn't get a squad together, then tough beans, still play the game. Any other club has to.

I don't think that's the case, btw. I think it's clear City have had an outbreak and it could get out of control.

However, Everton should have been given that information and had the chance to question it.

The concern was that City had possibly carried the new virus back with them after playing in London. Until more tests are done, that cant be confirmed, and the medical advice to the PL was to postpone until that is known.
